HoopsHype.com NBA Blogs - Mark Heisler " Back to the old days
So, I totally missed this until this week, but apparently Mark Heisler of the LA Times has been blogging (and by blogging I of course mean writing a column which happens to appear online) for HoopsHype.com. Heisler is one of my favorite basketball writers - knowledgeable, insightful, with just the right amount of snark.
Anyway, the attached article about the Clippers is pretty good - the usual Heisler stuff. He more than any other writer continues to view Donald T. Sterling as a significant detriment to long time success. He's probably right about that, frankly. We want to look the other way, ignore the problem, hope that the Clippers succeed in spite of the other Donald.
At any rate, he does offer a few more details on the failed Mike Miller trade and on the Brand situation - he implies that the Clippers offered to make whatever changes Brand wanted, including waiving people to free more money, but that Brand had simply stopped returning their calls. It's a good read, if a little depressing.

Interesting article
There are many points of view as to what happened with EB, even among the media, who presumably have access. As Steve knows I’ve heard a completely different take on this from another reporter with access. Whatever.
I also don’t understand his point about the Mike Miller trade. I don’t think that it was necessarily a bad decision not to sign Miller long term. Miller is a good offensive player, but he’s not getting any younger, and this was a deep draft.
I also think that while it’s certainly easy to blame management incompetence solely on DTS, there’s alot of blame to go around. No need to beat that dead horse either I suppose.
