Tim Thomas has a Great Game with the Knicks...
How fitting, we trade the guy and in 21 minutes he puts up 16 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists. I think he was doing fine with us, despite how everyone here seemed to hate him. He was actually trying this year, I wish him and Mobley nothing but the best this year.
I think maybe he just thrives under D'Antoni because coach knows how to use him? That said, they didn't win. I wonder if it was because Thomas was a ball stopper? It WAS against Cleveland though.

Thomas was great in D'Antoni's system in PHX
It fits a player like him. Lazy, but can shoot.
Mobley will likewise enjoy the D’Antoni system. Cat thrived in Sacramento under Adelman’s somewhat up tempo offense.
And I believe ZBo will do well in Dunleavy’s offense. Perhaps not 20 and 12 like he was with the Knicks, but he will do well.

Oh the irony.
It is quite ironic that he goes to NY and puts on the best game in nearly two years. But still, D’Antoni and Thomas were made for eachother.
Sorry, we are the BEST team in LA!

I Tracked The Game A Bit
And it seems like Thomas did most of his damage in garbage time. The Cavs were up about 30 at the half, so the game was over early. When Thomas starts winning them games, I’ll be impressed.

Agreed
And the reality is tracking TT’s performance based on how many he scores in NY vs what he did in LA is a meaningless comparison when it’s D’Antoni’s system vs. Dunleavy’s system. On both ends of the floor, the personal stats are apples vs oranges.

I'm sure he will
Thomas won a few games for the Clippers in the two years he played here. He hit 4 three’s, including the game winner, in the 4th quarter of his first home game as a Clipper against Denver a few years back.
There were a few others, too. He didn’t totally suck. He was simply over-utilized, beyond what he was capable of.

Tim Thomas is ALWAYS Good...
When the game is NOT in the balance. I don’t want to be grouped into the Thomas haters club but I just think he was always a great guy to have ONCE you have a lead (or in garbage time as ghost noted).
He’s good at pouring it on when the there’s nothing to lose. But when the team needs a stop, they never seemed to get one or two or however many they need to win when he’s on the floor. I don’t think he’s going to help the Knicks get any more stops than he did the Clippers. Sure didn’t seem like he helped them on defense last night.
His stats may look better from here on out but it doesn’t show how he did or did not help his team play defense or actually win. So I will not have “seller’s remorse” as the Knicks allegedly did.

He's never been a great defender.....
….but in a system like D’Antoni’s he will thrive. He can actually play when it’s a close game and the game is on the line, just it can’t be in a stagnant defense oriented system. Remember the playoffs with the Suns?
