Eric Gordon = EJ?
I was wondering why most people here at the Nation refer to Eric Gordon as EJ when clearly his initials are EG. I went to his player profile on the Clippers web site looking for a possible middle name and noticed that he IS Eric Gordon Jr. Is this why everyone uses EJ? Eric Junior? This has been bugging me for a little bit (am I the only one?..probably), and I just wanted to see where everyone was coming from.

Thanks for asking that question
It’s been bugging me, too. I’m a big Indiana fan, and I don’t recall ever calling him EJ in college.

Yes
EJ = Eric Junior. Not that I had to ask earlier in the season – it was Citizen MadGlove who informed me. This of course all raises the ugly possibility that MadGlove could simply be goofing on all of us, and that no one really calls the kid EJ.

It's EJ
C’mon, just because a lot of people don’t know it, doesn’t mean it isn’t true. If there’s one thing you guys should know about me, it’s that I’m always digging for info.
Here’s an old Sports Illustrated article on him:
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/highschool/11/03/gordon.profile/index.html
When Eric Jr., or E.J. as he’s nicknamed, was 5 years old, his dad put him on two teams. One was an advanced league with 7- and 8-year-olds so E.J. could test his skills against stronger competition. The other was a recreational league with players his own age so E.J. could build his confidence.

Just yanking your chain, MadGlove
I didn’t really suspect you of creating a hoax among the Citizens of Clips Nation. There would seem to be little return on investment in doing so. Still, thanks for the background material, so we can put the EJ question to rest.
