Around SBN: Leandro Damiao Is Still Really Good

Congratulations Clippers

Dave from Blazersedge here.

I wrote in my preview to tonight's game that the Clippers had been finding ways to lose this season and that if you gave them reason, they'd pretty much surrender the game.  Two things were clear tonight:

1.  The Blazers gave the Clippers no reason to lose.

And...

2.  The Clippers weren't giving up on this game anyway.

Baron and Zach showed offensive determination and the Clips got the right guys the ball at the right time.  Nicely done.

Congratulations, and I hope your season keeps trending upwards from here.

You, my friend....

are a class act. Seriously. Thanks for the kind words. We here in LA LA land are in need of some moral support. Good luck to you and your team as well…

Agreed

Thanks for taking the time to acknowedge the discrepancy between your prediction and actual result. Surprises happen, but only the super cool acknowledge them if it undercuts their original thought..

Now if only some of the Clipper fans on this site could screw on the maturity to do the same…

Man, do I love Blazers fans

Or maybe it’s Blazers Edge specifically. But the commenters on the game preview were smart and clever and nice. And Dave is of course a class act all the way.

Obviously the game of the year for us. And I’m somewhat shocked that we won it, given that you had the best player on the floor. Roy is really unbelievably good. I know he was hurt at least one of the games last year – I don’t think he’d had that kind of game against us before. But wow.

Apparently

he was hurt in this game:

He played the end of regulation plus a couple of overtimes with his finger messed up. No word on how badly yet.

I remember the play

He went 4 for 5 on tough shots in one stretch during the OTs. Which was pretty amazing, even without being injured. Hope he’s OK.

You, sir, are a true class act.

Thanks so much for stopping by after what must be a tough loss (I forgot what the tough ones feel like as a Clips fan, they all kinda feel the same). I’m glad that we got a W, but it’s great to see someone like you congratulate us. I wish I were as good a sport as you. You guys have a much better team, but we were able to thakfully get it done tonight. I saw Roy when he was at UW singlehandedly take down Farmar’s UCLA team, and he impressed me even more tonight. You’ve got yourself a great team, so thanks for being a great sport.

Thanks

It’s basketball. Stuff happens. Something I learned when the Trail Blazers were down is that a win is a win at the end of the day. No excuses. No should-have-beens. You guys beat us. You were talented enough to do it and executed well enough to do it and deserve credit for that.

Besides, I knew we had it coming. I always try to take my previews seriously but people like humor and sarcasm, so every once in a while I just pick a preview to go all over-the-top on. I mean, given the way the Clippers had played prior to this game it was pretty hard to sit down and write with a straight face half a dozen reasons why they could beat Portland in Portland. So I decided, “What the heck, let’s just goof around.”

Guess what?

I should know by now never, ever to do that.

Mann... Roy scares me on the closing minutes of the game

He’s almost unstoppable! I think he just got tired in 2OT, playing back to back.
You definitely have something with that guy… I still remember when he made that three against Houston!

Thank you for the kind words and good luck with your team as well!
