I like this Kaman Trade, do you?

reading the bulls blog, I came across with this fantasy trade. I think it ´s kind of realistic and it would be a good move for the Clippers.

Here´s a part:

¨ So, what I propose is simple:

Bulls send: Hinrich, Gooden, Nocioni and Noah

Clippers send: Kaman, Ricky Davis and Hart

Kings send: Miller and Udrich

Bulls receive: Kaman, Miller and Hart

Clippers receive: Nocioni, Noah and Udrich

Kings receive: Gooden, Hinrich and Davis¨

http://www.blogabull.com/2008/12/17/695669/and-if-we-could-get-miller

it would be beneficial if we can get something like this for Kaman, don´t you think?

no that is horribile

why would we give Kaman and Hart and Ricky. I don’t like nay of the players that we would get it is a no go.

Not so much...

I don’t think it terrible, but we can do better. But your countryman Noc has been on the decline. After shooting almost 47% two seasons ago, he shot 43% last season and is down to 38% this season. Noah is a bit of a wild card, but he’s mostly be a disappointment.

If you believe that Noc is better than Ricky Davis, Udrih is obviously much better than Hart… so if you look at it that way, those are the positive possibilities. But Kaman is a talented young center, and you’d be trading him for three reserves. You don’t do that.

In this world, you must be oh so smart or oh so pleasant. Well, for years I was smart. I recommend pleasant. - Elwood P. Dowd

Agree....

It appears that the Bulls fans on Blog-a-bull are infatuated with the idea of getting Kaman. The problem is the Bulls don’t really have any players that are comparable to Kaman in talent (or potential) aside from Rose, who they are not trading anyway. Clips Gordon >= Bulls Gordon. Thorton >= Deng. BDavis > Hinrich or Rose. Z-Bo and Camby >> anyone they put out there at the 4 or 5.
This fan I think realizes this and tries to bring another team in, which is probably the ONLY way that Kaman would ever make it to Chi-town. Still not enough talent in return yet though. Clips would still want more, and CAN get more.

One thing to remember too, CS. The Lakers got Pau for a bunch of stiffs and a dude who wasn’t in the league anymore. So, it COULD happen. I just don’t think the Clippers are desperate enough to make such a trade….at least not yet.

One thing that still puzzles me with all the Kaman trade talk is this: if Kaman is traded (and the Clips do NOT get a legit big in return which is highly likely), what do the Clippers do after next year when Camby’s contract is up? Camby leaves, and there is now a HUGE hole at the center position. DeAndre is no where near being ready. Are there any bigs coming out of college? Looking at the future of the team, it just makes no sense whatsoever to me to trade Kaman any time in the next couple of years. Kaman, Z-bo, EJ and AT are all young. Don’t we want to see how it will all play out? I know I do…

on the gasol trade

his brother is really good, so it wasnt a lot of stiffs, marc gasol plays very well, on the trade i wouldnt do it, plus i now hate nocioni (not his fault, i was in a contest of sports knowledge, price was a trip have to say argentina’s olympic squad players, before nocioni i said hermann(was he in the team??) and lost for that, so now every time i read or see nocioni i remember my almost won contest, would hate to have him on the clippers.

What's to like?

Trade one of the better young centers in the league for three guys who couldn’t crack the starting lineup of a 7-and-17 team? How is this a good move for the Clippers?

Do we value Kaman too highly?

He stresses me out like crazy. I used to be a big supporter, but lately he’s been frustrating me. I’m tired of waiting to see which player is going to show up 2.0 or Flippy.

I guess I will wait to see how he comes back and helps us make a last ditch roller coaster ride of a playoff push. That would be cool.

Maybe Kaman can be

more of a great Sixth Man, instead of living up to starter expectations. In Lakerland everyone seemed upset that Lamar Odom was not living up to his potential. He posted decent numbers and seemed to do good things for them but it was never enough. But now as a bench guy, I don’t seem to be hearing as many complaints?

Maybe Clipper Nation will be better satisfied with Kaman being a solid scorer and rebounder off the bench. He’s kind of loopy/goofy. Maybe he won’t mind coming off the bench? Seems like he loves Dunleavy and will do whatever he asks of him.

Forgot to include

No. Don’t like the trade. I think Kaman is a great bargain for $10M/year. Why should we give that away for Noc? How much better than AT or Gordon would he be? Would Udrih want to play behind Baron? I say the Clippers be patient and see how the team does when Ricky and Kaman come back. No trades until we see how it works with both of them HEALTHY.

I agree

I like the starting line up as it is Zbo is not a great defender but Camby plays mainly on the weakside so he makes up for Zbos lack of D. Kaman would serve as a great 6 man he has energy for spurts and demands the ball like Zbo and him and Zbo bolth like to post on the same side. So i purpose we keep the line as is and use kaman off the bench with alot of mins filling in for Camby and Zbo. With R.davis back and kaman that could be a good Bench!! Oh yea i forgot to give Camby praise cause i think hes earned the starting spot. He is allways active for every second he is out ther, doesnt demand the ball, getting all the scraps and will bail you out with a jump shot!!

Potential? after 7 years in the league?

I think we have a very high view of Kaman… maybe because we still see potential, as he hasn t play a full season in years… He´s always injured. And take a objective look at his stats. He´s not a star in this league.
As for Hart, he clearly doesnt belong to the NBA, And RDavis doesnt seem to find his game…
In my opinion, a Kaman trade will happen sooner or later. Sure, maybe we can get more than this. But objectively, how much more?

by edu_argentina on Dec 17, 2008 6:36 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

Kaman is averaging 14 pts, 10 rebs while shooting 57% from the field

Surely we can get more than three bench players. I say we exercise patience, Camby turns 35 this year so having some overlap isn’t a bad thing for us.

BTW, why does everyone say Kaman is injury prone?

He missed 4 games in 05-06
7 games in 06-07
26 games in 07-08
And he just got hurt this year. He’s not Karl Malone but its not like he’s coming off a torn ACL or some other serious injury. Strained foots/ankles etc. are very common.

It's not that we hate Kaman

Its just that Kaman is our only tradable asset that other teams want. Camby is way better than Kaman. He still will be in 5 years. Our bench sucks so far. Maybe Kaman and Ricky 2.0 will fill the void, but should injuries occur we may be unequipped to handle them. Big powerful Centers are not so popular in todays NBA game. Camby is faster, more versatile, a far better rebounder and passer as well as being smarter all round. He may be the best thing to ever happen to the Clippers. I guarantee if the Clips are willing to pay him, he will retire in LA. Money talks – FElton walks.

Agree with almost everything

Camby is a rare talent… Kaman will never be able to do the things Camby does. But he’s 34 years old, and he’s a free agent after next year. I’m not so convinced that he’ll stay in LA because even at 35, teams will line up to try and sign him… dood just had a 27 rebound game!

I’d have no problem trading Kaman to make the team better. But if it happens, I want some team to over-pay for him so that the Clips get the most bang for their buck.

He'll actually be 36 when his contract is up

He turns 35 in a few months. I can’t think of any 38 year old centers averaging a double double… ever. I agree, Camby is a presently the better player but in two years I think Kaman will be better.

Disgusting

I can’t think of 3 players i’d rather not have. A better trade would be kaman collins or hart for gordon and thomas. Something along those lines.

I wouldn't want to trade Gordon

he is looking very good and he can only get better. And I still see no reason to trade Kaman unless we are getting an allstar in return.

He's talking about Ben Gordon, not Eric

That trade would make some sense, though we don’t need any more combo guards IMO.

Gordon is virtually untradeable

He has a no-trade clause which only he can waive. He won’t waive it because then he gives up his Larry Bird rights, which is huge since few teams have cap space and he has more options with a sign and trade scenario.
