Vacation Coverage on Clips Nation
Thanks to everyone who volunteered to help out writing recaps while I'm relaxing with the family over the holidays. Below is the schedule. If you've been assigned to a game, please leave a comment on this thread letting me know that you are aware of your responsibility and that you're still up for it.
Let me also say that I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings. We had more volunteers than we needed, which is great, and I used a combination of factors to decide the assignments. A guy like Citizen moKi, who has already taken it upon himself to write his own recaps for most of the games this season, has earned a spot. A guy like Citizen Jax, who has been around forever has likewise earned the chance, even if I don't always see eye to eye with him. So I used various considerations in making the assignment, including purely logistical considerations like who has League Pass and what games fit in someone's schedule. If you didn't get the call, don't feel bad. Be ready the next time the coach needs you. (OK, that sounds stupid, but you get the idea.)
Here's the schedule. Lots of strange start times, so pay attention. Not a 7:30 tip in the bunch.
- Sunday, Dec. 28, 12:30 PM - Dallas - Citizen ghost_ride
- Tuesday, Dec. 30, 7:00 PM - @ Sacramento - Citizen moKi
- Wednesday, Dec. 31, 6:30 PM - Philadelphia - Citizen supac
- Friday, Jan. 2, 6:00 PM - @ Phoenix - Citizen Jax
- Sunday, Jan. 4, 12:30 PM - Detroit - Citizen bestclipfan
So your job, Citizens, is to write a game recap at the conclusion of the game. Post in the FanPost section, and Mikey will move it to the front page when he gets a chance. There's no deadline, per se, but in a perfect world it would be done the same day, especially with all of these relatively early tip times. (I think everyone would understand if the Philly recap waited until the next day, given that it's New Year's Eve, but then again who wants to write with a hangover?) There are no guidelines other than to be relatively professional. Feel free to bring your own style to the recap - that's one of the really fun aspects of having guest bloggers.
Of course, anyone can write a FanPost any time they choose and I hope the community stays as lively as ever in my absence. But we're counting on you five to provide these specific recaps.
Citizen Mikey P is in charge while I'm gone. Thanks again to everyone who volunteered.

Ok
Warning: I’m going to be extremely inebriated at the Phi game and then there are the NYE festivities afterwards. So what I’ll do is a preview on the day of, and then a recap the day after. If you guys don’t hear from me by Thu evening, then there’s a good chance I punched EB in the face or something and ended up in jail.

LA live will be good new years
A lot of new restaurant bars are open there and they don’t have covers and hopefully no lines for new years. I don’t think any of them even have. Lucky for you, I don’t think EB is going to be there, so you won’t have to go to jail.

Preview...
A Clipper Steve preview shell – with lineups, etc. – should magically appear the morning of the game, if I set things up correctly. You can add info to that in the comments, or write a preview in fanposts. But I’m more concerned with recaps.

All right, maggots! I'm in charge now!
Appreciate all of the volunteers. As Steve said, the name of this blogging game is “content”, so we do want to be sure to have the recap up on the main site no later than the next morning. CS has the previews on auto pilot. They will contain mostly generic tidbits, such as starting lineups and the like. We can append the previews in the comments section if needed, such as a starting lineup change.
Also, if something really interesting or newsworthy comes up, you guys can write a fan post and I will bump it up as well, assuming it passes ClipsNation’s rigid editorial standards.
Otherwise, let’s just have fun with the thing while the grown ups are away and we have control. But let’s also show CS what good stewards we can be for the Nation. Hopefully we will be recapping Clipper victories.

My recap post will probably be late into the night
as usual. If that’s ok with CS and the Nation, feel free to depend on me for the Sac recap. If you want a same night post (before midnight) you might want to assign it to someone else as I cannot be sure what time I will watch my DVR recording of the game that night (and subsequently write my recap – I will try to keep it concise for front page purposes…)

That's all good...
The official SB Nation rule for recaps, if you’re curious, is something like 9 AM Eastern time, which betrays the East Coast Bias in blogging. But it’s no big deal – I miss that deadline from time to time. At any rate, late into the night is absolutely fine… anything before people are getting to work the next day, since that’s where most people check the blog.
And the NYE game is a special case. We want Citizen supac to have a good time… and I assume we’ll get a recap eventually. If the syntax is particularly sloppy then we’ll know he’s still drunk from the night before. Might make for an entertaining read.
