WoW On the NBA's Most Overrated Players

Wages of Wins takes on the task of quantifying the most overrated players in the league. I'm bringing it to you because a Clipper shows up.

What's the best thing to do when you have an overrated anything? Sell high, of course.

Wow on WoW

Berri’s arrogance continues to amaze.

He’s taken some alternative metrics, compared them to his own, and then listed the biggest differences. Now, that’s a valid and interesting thing to do. And if his post was titled ‘Players For Whom Other Metrics Disagree With WP”, I’d have no problem.

But it doesn’t say that. It labels all these players as overrated, period. But wouldn’t John Hollinger call all of the players in the second list underrated? The idea that Corey (who’s paid $7M per year, by the way, the ultimate mechanism for rating players) is ‘overrated’ simply because he scores a lot seems dubious.

Berri’s arrogance aside, I don’t necessarily disagree with the sell high idea. Although it remains unclear who the buyer might be.

The Clippers! The (second) Best NBA Team in LA!

We might yet get to see

Calderon rumblings are slightly increasing and the Baron Davis murmurs haven’t gone away.

If Corey gets traded we will see just how he is rated on the open market.

Calderon

Where do we sign? There is no available guard I’d rather have than Calderon. Not Agent Zero, not B-Diddy – no one. Here comes the case of the basket-blue-balls.

WOW is the poster child for

getting lost in stats, losing the forest for the trees. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know that Aldridge, West and Lewis are excellent players, and that the coaches of the teams they play for know how to use them. Maybe I should start a cite showing how coaches are overrated based on statistics showing how they use their players . . .

By all means

What is your projected launch date for this site? What is your proposed methodology?

Maybe I can help you out.

Personally, I’d rather understand the forest AND the trees, but to each their own I guess.
