The Real DeAndre Jordan...
I saw that ClipperSteve was excited about getting DeAndre in this morning's post (that guy is posting literally all the time... craziness...). I just wanted to say that when we got DeAndre here at A&M, we were all excited, too. Imagine our disappointment when we come to find out he's a larger version of Darius Miles. All hops, no game. None... at all...

It sums up, pretty humorously, what this guy is all about. There seems to be a lot of A&M alums in L.A.
Here is a pretty good excerpt. I have to say, I wasn't thrilled with the pick then, and I'm even less so, now.
"DeAndre Jordan has effectively lived his entire young life with that word, "potential", hovering over his seven foot fram which leads me to believe that the Clippers drafted him in hopes that he would eventually be nine feet tall with a 200 inch vertical. Jordan spent his lone season at A&M doing exactly one thing. Dunking. To the casual NBA fan, there is nothing more exciting, and to the smaller, less athletically endowed, there is no athletic feat more pursued. My guess is that DeAndre is some sort of basketball philanthropist, because that it all he ever did."
ouch...

at least
it wasn’t a 1st round pick… but picking him in the second round isn’t that bad. His “potential” could be a chip in a trade.

No worries
The article expresses a lot of frustration, which I’m sure is appropriate when expectations were high with him coming into Texas A&M. That’s the beauty of this second round pick: we have no expectations, and the Clips have Brand, Kaman, Davis, Fazekas, Powell. Jordan can take his time. Miles was a lottery pick. His spirit was crushed somehow by being traded for Andre Miller and shipped out of LA, and then he suffered a pretty bad injury. The situation is very different.
Well, not everyone agrees with these takes
There are other picks that made more sense to many of us.
Thanks Scrappy
The guy’s got a 9’5.5” standing reach. And he can walk and chew gum at the same time. And they got him with the 35th pick. It’s worth a shot, right? I’m hoping they let him play every minute of every Anaheim Arsenal game this year, but that has not been MDsr’s style. (In fact, he has NEVER assigned a Clipper to the D-League.) He needs to learn to play basketball, and he’ll have a chance to do that in the D-League. If he doesn’t develop, it was the 35th pick. If he does, it was a steal.
The Clippers! The (second) Best NBA Team in LA!
What I want to know, as an A&M guy...
...is who is going to give Joseph Jones a look. The guy took a downturn in his senior year, but I think it can be attributed to a new coach/offense as much as anything. The guy reminded me a lot of Elton Brand, along the lines that he was just a real hard nosed, blue collar ball player. I didn’t figure he’d get drafted, but I’ve seen him display tools that indicate he could play in the NBA. He’s raw, but I think he’d fit in with any team looking for a guy to be a garbage man.

Not us...
We’re loaded with bigs. If you can figure a way to get Acie Law away from the Hawks and out here to LA, we’d love to have him.

ha...
seeing as how the clips could use a PG, it’d be nice… but I doubt it would happen, unless Law opts out after being a literal 4th wheel in the PG rotation
