Rebuild Idea

What's up guys. I am a hornets fan, but I have been interested in the clips for a while. I had a rebuild idea that I wanted to run by y'all. Here it goes:

Let Maggette and Brand walk.

Sign Gilbert to the Max.

Trade Gordon and Mobley for Harrington and Randolph.

Re-sign Ross.

If you guys let your stars walk then you have enough money for the max. Golden State wants to get rid of Harrington anyway, and this gives them a prospect that would fit well into their system. The Clippers could afford to bring Randolph along a bit slower. I think Harrington would be great because he would open the lanes for Gilbert and Thornton, while also giving Kaman space to operate. His rebounding and defensive flaws will be better covered up by Thornton (who I think will be will rebound even better next year).

This gives you some serious scoring options and while still having some defensive ability.

What do you think?

Well...

It’s highly likely that the Warriors will resign BDiddy and Monta, so that trade’s probably not going through. Arenas in my opinion is overrated as a point guard. He’s not a pass first player and he just doesn’t create shots for his team.

If they did let either Davis or Ellis go, I can see the Warriors opting to trade picks and veterans. The problem I have with your scenario is Brand leaving the team… I believe he’s the type of person who would see all the options for the Clippers and make sure the team gets something for trading him away. Your plan sounds intriguing, but unlikely :(

Around ClipsNation...

Few of us are ready to rebuild yet. It may be shortsighted and overly optimistic, but the hope is that the team can be competitive if they’re healthy. So any rebuilding plans are going to be looked at askance around here.

Having said that, I would not want to rebuild around Arenas. I’m just not sold on the guy. I’d rather REALLY rebuild, suck for two seasons, and clear all the cap space necessary to make runs at LBJ or DWade in 2010. But that’s just me.

The Clippers! The (second) Best NBA Team in LA!

Hmmm

Let two of your top wins producers walk and replace them with one massively overpaid dude who produces about as many wins as the less of the two players who just walked.

That’s not rebuilding. That’s suicide.
