Recommending FanPosts
Some of you were asking about Recommended Fan Posts after visiting Golden State of Mind. We haven't talked a lot about all of the features available on the new platform, but since this came up, now would seem to be a good time.
When you are reading a story, or a Fan Post, of a Fan Shot, or even a comment, you have the option of recommending it. Basically, if you think it was well-written and of particularly interest, you can recommend it by clicking on the 'Rec' link just beneath.
Truth be told, I don't really know what happens with recommended stories or comments. Basically, it's just an acknowledgment of quality for others to see. But for Fan Posts and Fan Shots, those that are recommended enough times rise to the level of 'Recommended', a separate list. Since the CN community has not been making recommendations often (mostly because I've never explained them or encouraged anyone to use them), we're never had a Recommended Fan Post - until today.
So, the bottom line is, start using the 'Rec' button to 'Hype up' quality posts.

But what about "options"...
Flag? What’s that do?

You can flag a comment Clipper Steve
It ends up with a green background, as opposed to the normal white, and has an asterisk next to it. TZ revealed that portion of “rec’d” feature during draft time 3 weeks ago.

I meant rec'd in my original comment
But I’m sure some of you may have figured that out eventually.

Trying to figure this out
There’s a great comment from “Azubuikefan” at the end of CBob’s “If we get Azibuke” thread. I just tried to rec it. So when I go back will it be green, or does CS have to do it? Didn’t know that Azu was injured all year last year… Might put it up on a fanpost anyway.

It will have the options to flag or rec. Flagging is only done when you think the comment shoudl be seen by the blog admin (Steve in this case) and should be taken off the board.
To answer the question about the green that shows up after 5 rec’s. 5 different people have to recommend it.

The 5 is a parameter
The blog administrator (that’s me in this case) can change the 5 to 4 or 3 or 100. I think it’s set at 4 on CN right now.

Look now
That comment has received 3 ‘Recs’, plus I changed the parameter to 3 in the administration system. So we now have our first ‘recommended comment’ in the history of Clips Nation (click on the link and scroll down to the end).
