WARRIORS UP OFFER TO 100 MILLION!

Wow, the Warriors must be really seeking revenge. Reports from the LATimes have announced that the Warriors have now offered Elton 100 million dollars for 5 years; thats 30 more than we can and will offer him. This is disturbing because Elton has not announced his support to the CLippers yet, meaning that he is second guessing his decision. this could be disappointing altho we could get maggette if we didnt take brand. But Brand is so much bbetter than Maggettee. This could get ugly.

Sorry about that. I was on another Clips forum and I saw the story, but it turns out the guy wasn’t accurate. My apologies, but the deal worth 100 million is true according to the sources. Brand has not released comments or taken a position.

Where?

Where does the LAT say Brand is leaning towards accepting the Dubs offer? All I see is he could not be reached for comment. And I don’t trust Hoopsworld at all. He’ll be a Clipper.

There is no question

EB stays. Baron Davis will not become a Clipper if EB is not here. This ranks right up there with Miami still trying to convince the Clippers to do a sing and trade with EB. Stupid.

this was

already pointed out at the end of the “warriors make offer to Elton Brand” fanpost

And hoopsworld often speculates. From what I’ve read, neither brand or his agnet have been reached for comment. and the times doesn;t say which way he’s leaning. keep your fingers crossed until we hear more. Worst case we loose brand to the W’s, davis doesn;t want to come anymore and maggette leaves and we’re back in the tank. no worries.

Davis

If EB takes 100 mil. with G.S., then they can’t sign Baron. He’s opted out, so where would he go? If he signs with us and Elton goes, then we traded Elton for Baron. Would anyone have made that trade?

by Jonee on Jul 2, 2008 4:35 PM PDT reply actions

NO way this happens...

IF, and this is a big IF, EB wants to leave the Clips, the Clippers would abandon offering Davis a contract, and in turn offer EB a max deal, which I think would be for more $$ and one more year. So EB is NOT going anywhere. This is just Golden State making offers to appease their fan base. EB is a clipper for life…

Exactly correct

If EB wants the money first, the Clippers give it to him and nix the BD deal. If EB wants a winning team, he executes the plan that he himself put in motion.

No way he signs with Dubs. Not happening.

Can't blame EB for listening, though

I’m thinking Clips will give him 6 years, $85M, or something like that.

And the Clips are giving him Baron Davis.

Brand is in SF

It has been reported locally Elton is in the Bay Area as we speak discussing the terms of the deal. Oh no!! We are getting screwed! I guess the Warriors are gettign the last laugh. I am bummed!

by smearthebeard on Jul 4, 2008 1:11 PM PDT reply actions

Why would Elton leave?

20 Million more reasons, a team that isn;t owned by Sterling, a team that has their own Arena and the best fans in the league, a good coach, a winning fun style of basketball and last but not least the best sour dough bread and crab! I guess Baron can be our power forward.

"Our power forward?"

Why are you referring to the Clippers as ‘your’ team when you’re a Warriors fan? I’m confused.

Sorry, dude

if it comes down to food, EB will surely opt for Philly.

Nothing better than a cheese steak.

your nickname must be sucker

it’s so obvious this is a ruse by Falk (Brand’s agent) to extort more money from the Clippers by having them renounce or waive fringe guys like Powell and Fazekas. While it can’t be proven, it’s so obvious that this was masterminded from the start. Brand & BD friends. Brand telling Clipper management he wants them to go after BD. Brand unexpectedly opts out and BD shocks all by opting out and later signs w/ Clips. Logic, dictates that there is little chance Baron opts out unless he had this deal set in place.

This is just a smokescreen to cloud common sense just as the Dunleavy/Udrih meeting. Though, Dunleavy is so out of the loop that he could of been genuinely recruiting him.

Outside of sensationalist suckers like Stephen A. Smith, recently, the majority of “in the know” reporters are saying that it turns out the W’s haven’t made any offers for either Arenas or Brand and that the source of these rumored offers turns out to be the players respective agents themselves.

i don’t even get why you’re trying to incite Clipper fans. They’re not Lakers fans’, they don’t deserve your scorn. oh and before i forget, i’m selling these magic pills that’ll make you more attractive to women.

Not a chance that he is leaving.

If Brand really wants money the clippers would give it to him and just ditch Baron Davis. But I could not imagine that this deal would not have been made if the clippers had not talked to Brand and told him he would not make as much money. The whole reason Brand agreed to opt out was so the clips had space to sign Baron. And Brand will make up the 20 million by being close to his successful movie business. At this point in his career Brand has more than enough money and just wants to win., and clips have given him that in the form of Baron. I think the motive behind this offer that Golden State made was that they didn’t want to go to their fans and be able to say they tried to help make up for loss of Baron.
