Nets trade Marcus Williams to Warriors: How does this impact the decision to match Azubuike?

Interesting trade. The warriors get a backup point guard and New Jersey gets a future lottery protected pick. I’m wondering how much space the warriors have left under the cap. I’ve heard 4 million?? I don’t know the exact details but I wonder if this trade still allows them to match Azubuike?

Since Azubuike is a RFA and a Warrior last year.

The Warriors don’t have to be under the cap to match the offer.
I think it’s more likely they do match now. They were waiting for something to go down before they decided to match or not.
I think it was dependent with the Warriors getting Louis Williams or not. He would have cost alot more to get him away from the sixers.
Just my opinion from a warriors fan point of view.
Could be totally wrong tho.

I think it really depends on...

How much money it really will take to resign Ellis and Bierdrins. I am still holding out hope that they aren’t close with those 2 and it makes me not match at the fear of having too high a payroll for the owner. I have been really excited about him possibly coming, would hate to see us lose him now.

Seems like it could go either way now, tho I think it’s right that they have to figure out Ellis and Bierdrins. And Bellinelli’s playing time is a factor too—not to mention Anthony Randolph.

The Clips signed Azu on...

the 18th, so the Warriors have until the 26th to make their decision. It’s not official until one week after they receive the contract, as we learned with the Turiaf contract.
