Important Azubuike information
Just saw this recent comment from "Azubuikefan" on the CB "If we get Azubuike" thread. Worth bumping and discussing:
Ah.. but what you don't realize.....
Azubuike opened last season as a starter and had a 33pt/ 8rb game against the clipps and followed a few games later with a 27pt 11rb game against dallas which is good… but he was playing injured the whole season and it just kept getting worse and worse because he never took 2 weeks off the let it heal.
Kelenna got a bone bruise in his ankle in summer league that had not healed by the start of the season. He was playing(and well) but was putting all his weight on his right leg because of his left ankle. He developed tendonitis in his right knee. The big dallas game was really the last time anyone saw a healthy Azubuike. He would have been fine if he sat out 2 weeks and let the right knee heal but he couldn’t for fear of falling out of crazy nellie’s rotation and Nellie wouldn’t sit him out because even though they were having to pump him full of liquid tylenol just to play, he was still better than both Barnes and Pietrus which were the alternatives. He averaged 8.5 pts / 4rbs in 20 minutes/game for 81 games while playing really injured… Imagine what he will do while healthy in 35 mins/game as a starter alongside Baron(who is probably the one who filled the clips in that Kelenna’s numbers were achived while playing injured all season).

I am very excited about him hopefully coming....
Hopefully NJ getting Williams doesn’t make them match it. I really wanted to see them offer a big deal to Louis WIlliams that way we would know.

Which Williams?
I thought Golden State got MARCUS Williams. New Jersey got LOUIS Williams? I’m confused.

No...
Louis is still negotiating with Philly and NJ traded Marcus Williams (PG) to GS.

Not the Clippers Marcus Williams
New Jersey sent their Marcus Williams to GSW.
There were rumors that GSW was going to make an offer to Philly’s Louis Williams, who must be an RFA. I think it had to be a big enough deal for Philly not to match—but we know that FElton took all of Philly’s money, but Philly must have Louis Williams bird rights.
Speaking as a Clipper fan, I think that GSW should still make the offer to Louis Williams. They still have to sign Ellis and Biedrens first. They don’t need Bukie, especially with all that money tied up in Maggette. But a Williams tandem replacing Baron Davis and playing with Ellis could be just right.

I disagree
I presume the Warriors now have all the reasons to sign Azubuike since the PG spot is filled with Monta, Williams, CJ(most likely) and they still have the money to match for Azu. If they tried to get Louis then probably Azu would be gone.
But after all nobody knows and we all have to wait and see what happens.

I think I'm with Citizen Buky
It’s going to come down to Cohan’s wallet. They have open roster spots. They have their point guard ‘problem’ addressed inexpensively with Williams. But, really, you’re talking about the same ‘spot’ on the Warriors as you are on the Clippers – battling with a youngster for the first wing off the bench.
The big question is how serious Nellie is about getting Belinelli and Wright (and now Randolph) into the rotation. But with Monta sliding over to the 1, and Jackson, Maggette, Wright and Randolph all really 3’s, Belinelli and Buike are the only true 2’s he can choose from. (He’ll start Corey and Jax, but they’re really 3’s, right?)

They're both combo swings
I’m not sure classifying them either as 3’s is the appropriate label. Gerald Wallace played the 2 when he came into the league for the KIngs, and now he plays the 3 for the Bobcats. I’m of personal opinion the guy can play either spot fairly well as long as his style of playing doesn’t remained effected.

An expensive 12th man
Will he be at the end of the bench, and how much will they pay to park someone on the bench?
$3M is right in that pain threshold merely to pay to keep him out of a competitor’s hands.

He wouldn't be 12th on the Clippers
But my point is that if he is 3rd on the depth chart and isn’t getting off the bench, 3M is enough to make that hurt for the Warriors.

Plus Ellis will play SG
I don’t think Ellis will exclusively play PG either, will he? If Jax and Maggs are starters (which makes sense), then Belinelli is coming off the bench anyway. And now they have the option to bring in Williams and leave Ellis out there (Williams-Ellis-Maggette or Jax). Still no time for Azu yet.
I didn’t know about CJ exactly. Knew that them continuing to go after Louis Williams would be a huge stretch after the trade for Marcus Williams. Might as well see how it goes with those 3.
