2010--The Year of Rebirth
Let's think about this a little bit. In 2010, Mobley, Thomas, Hart, and Camby's contract's expire. If we let them all go, we could have about 22-26 million in the bank of free cap space. In 2010, agents like LeBron (probably New york), Wade, Stoudemire, Dirk N. , and Bosh will all be available. We could do something amazing in 2010 if we renounce these players.
Just two years from now, we could be a Championship team.

Amare
I think we’d all want LeBron, but I think Amare or Bosh is more realistic..
Kaman
Stoudemire
Thornton
Gordon
Davis

AMARE
I would love to see Amare with the clips! but I might want to keep Camby as well. don’t forget about Jordan. I think that might end up being the biggest steal of the draft. I think after a year behind Kaveman and Camby he will be ready to make a huge contribution!

Just voted for Dirk
I’m going with the Kaman connection. Bosh might be the most likely, but I’m not sure he’s the guy who’s going to get the Clippers over the hump. I think that Phoenix will keep Amare, but who knows.
As far as Wade and even Lebron go, it’s kind of a question of what the team becomes in the Baron Davis era. Anything is possible.
But I like this Dirk Nowitzki idea right now. Let’s see how they play together in Olympics. If the Mavs don’t win it all over the next two years, Cuban might want to entice one of the other big guys available in an effort to change things up. It seems like Dirk has been around for a long time at this point, but he’s probably younger than one might think. Just find it somewhat intriguing and even a little realistic. If he does fairly well with Kaman and they’re scheduled to play together again in 2010, Dirk could be a good target.

2 years is a long time to speculate, BUT....
I am hoping it’s Amare or Dirk, would LOVE to see either, but I have a really hard time seeing Cuban letting go of Dirk. I am assuming he is going to work on an extension before Dirk even hit’s free agency. Hopefully Amare will get tired of the Suns making all the wrong moves and will want to join up with Baron since Nash will likely be done around then.

I don't know
Yes, it’s hard to imagine Cuban letting go of Dirk. And obviously Cuban did not have a good experience letting go of Steve Nash.
But sometimes you have to change things up. We’re seeing that with FElton. Cuban has gotten so close with Dirk and he’s got at least a couple of more shots with him. Cuban has done everything he possibly could to surround Dirk with guys to go out and win a title. And they’ve gotten really close. But now, especially with the panicky Kidd move, they seem to be moving in the other direction.
And so it may turn out that it’s better for Cuban and the Mavs, and better for Dirk, if he moves on. And with the other free agents out there, it wouldn’t be a shock to see Cuban go after a LeBron or DWade or whoever with everything he’s got. Have to look a little closer at the Dallas salary situation to get an idea of what their options for the future might be, but I’m intrigued by this.
And it’s unlikely that Dirk wouldn’t just go to the highest bidder, but he also might want to play on a “super team” the way that KG did, and what the Lakers are like after the Pao gift and if Bynum comes back (though they’ll have a hard time extending Bynum and Farmar and keeping Lamar, but if Bynum is healthy then Bynum-Pao-Kobe is fairly super).
Dallas will definitely bear watching carefully. One dream scenario is that they find that they can’t compete for a title in 09-10 and they trade Dirk to the Clippers for draft picks, expiring contracts, and to free up capspace and start tanking. Camby-Kaman-Dirk-Thornton-Davis playing for a title in 2010. But the first step is that Kaman and Dirk do okay and get along in Beijing.
This dream will never happen, but it’s nice to think about after taking the blow of losing Azubuike.

Dallas
Dallas could conceivably let some contracts (including Dirk’s) expire and go after someone in the 2010 free agency orgy, but it hasn’t been their style. They’ve lived way over the cap for the entirety of Cuban’s tenure, and I expect them to continue to do so. Their MO will be to trade big contracts for other big contracts in order to change things up. But that’s just my guess.

Stoudemire...
since the Clips should’ve taken him over Wilcox anyhow. Phoenix may be in a rebuild mode by then with Nash and Shaq retiring.

Exactly!
Plus, he gives us those blocks! I think he’d be great with B-Diddy.

Voted on Bosh
as being the most realistic. Does anyone really think Wade will be worth a max contract come 2010 or am I just letting all those injuries color my opinion of his worth?
