WHY ARE WE KEEPING T THOMAS?
Tim Thomas is, in my opinion, more of a liability than an asset at this point in his career. He does not defend very well, he is not a great rebounder and his three point shooting accuracy is declining, rapidly. He will make $6,049,400 this season and is scheduled to earn $6,466.600 .00 next season. Can anyone explain to me why we continue to keep him on the roster other than the fact that he is under a contract that may be difficult to move? Has anyone heard anything that would indicate that the FO is trying to move TT??

I wouldn't be surprised if he is gone before season starts
at the rate people are being traded I think the only people who aren’t in danger of being traded are: Gordon,Kaman, and BD (although I don’t believe we will deal Hart or Camby because we just got them you never know) .

Can only trade him for a worse contract
I doubt we will get a better player for him and if we did it would be a deal that goes until at least 2011. He’s a serviceable bench player and his contract is almost over.

Factors
He’s actually not such a nightmare as a backup, and he seems complementary to Kaman-Camby, and can also backup Thornton at SF. So he’s in a key spot. He’s a big guy who can hoist up the three, and without playing huge minutes his percentages might go up. Or they might go down, hard to say.
But now that GSW just matched Azubuike, the game might have changed a little bit. Thomas is attractive to teams because his contract expires in 2010, and he can put up some numbers while they hold the fort. All of a sudden the Clips need another backup wing, as well as the role played by TT. So they might look around to put him in a deal to solve the problem.
Bummer about Azu.

the only way he's traded
is with a draft pick or two and it can only be to Memphis or Atlanta. I don’t think it will happen

It takes two to tango
You can’t trade Tim Thomas without another team involved. And the Clippers, to their credit, have not made any desperation moves this summer.
Thomas has a role on this team, if he can hit the three (which he could not at all in the second half of last season). I think he belongs in the rotation – I would trade him if we could get something better, but I wouldn’t trade him for air.
The good news is that his deal syncs up with LeBron and Wade and Amare and all those other juicy FA’s – so (a) you can keep him and let the contract expire or (b) New York, New Jersey and other teams who want to play that game would LOVE to trade for him, but the offers will get better as we get closer to 2010.
Be patient, young padawan.

The interesting thing
Is that GSW matching on Azu forces the Clippers back into activity.

Carlos Powell?
Why dont they go for this guy, he’s 6ft 7inches 225 averaged 22.5 points 6.4 rebounds 4.8 assists 1.8 steal on 48.5% shooting and 40.2% on 3’s. He did play in the D-League last year and could turn out to be the Clippers Azuibuke?
