Is there any way to still get Azubuike?

I was just thinking that Buike is the ideal fit for our team in so many ways. He is versatile for multiple positions and a real talent on the way up. Plus he is only $3M. There must be some way we can buy him from GSW. They matched but even Buike says that he will get more opportunities in LA. They dont need him so he must be for sale - if the price is right. Maybe we can package Thomas, or a pick, or some other incentive. I know trade rules play a part, but not sure how. What does the bored Clipper community think?

wild trade idea...

I posted this on the Azubuike

3 million in TE & the second round pick that the nuggets can switch us for Azubuike… I think this only would’ve worked before they resigned ellis because the warriors would’ve had like 7 million under cap to pursue bigger free agents… (I think… can I get some clarification from John R or CS)

Now we could still offer this but it’s doubtful the warriors would take it because it’s only 3 million in TE. (Actually it’s less because of the knight trade right???/)

Now I think it might take TE and a lottery protected 1st rounder (which I would be okay with) We would get the guy we want and the warriors don’t loose him for nothing since they have several players who do the same thing he does already.

I agree that he would’ve been a good fit. Oh well at least I can dream

my mistake...

I meant that before ellis signed, the warriors would have 4 million under the cap plus the 3 million in TE so maybe they could’ve worked out a trade for a more valuable player, not sign one

Doubtful

The Clips are not in the best of graces with GSW now days. I don’t see them doing deals with us unless it is lopsided their way. They currently need a little cap relief as signing Biedrins will have them pushing the Luxury Tax limit. They aren’t looking for more salary like TTs.

The only way I see them doing this would be to get a pick and trade exception. 1st round lottery protected and the 3 mill cap room we have may be enough. Is he worth a first round pick- possibly, but a gamble. I would take the chance given our current makeup and situation.

Quick defense on TT. Yes he sucked last lear. He was asked to do more then he is capable. He is not a starter. He is although a great bench guy. I think with the new players and system (hopefully), he will be a great asset. If you take him for what is is they you are not disappointed. He is not a 20/10 guy and never could be. He will draw the defense away from the basket and hit some mid & long range set shots plus a few rebounds. As clipschamps stated, his value to other teams is low today. Next year will be up a lot. But after last year’s play with 2 years on contract, he is ours this year. Plus his salary will be a big part of our potential 2010 player acquisition. Not worth dumping him now for nothing.

Why would Warriors

trade Azubuike when they could just let him go to you guys and then go for someone else. And remember that altough it seems that Azu will have a tough time finding minutes we all know that Nelson plays only the guys who think that they are ready to compete(which Azubuike surely is).
Then there are couple of rumors(not official) that Dubs are trying to pull some trade involving Harrington,Wright and Bellinelli(J.Smith name is involved) because we are deep right now and we have many trade assets.

by buky on Jul 27, 2008 2:39 PM PDT   0 recs

Why, because

they would not just be letting him go. They would be getting a first round pick for him. That has a lot of value. They would also get either my suggestion of the cap space back or Citizenbob’s or Powell. That is a lot more then the “nothing” they would have received by not matching the offer.

by HT on Jul 27, 2008 5:58 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

And the mid first round pick has a lot of value because...?

Draft is a lottery and if you have to wait for 14/15 GM-s to pick their’s winning number I guess that the odds are in favour of Azubuike.

Azubuike for Powell and 2010 unprotected pick

I know we hate to lose a pick, but Bukie is the perfect compliment to our team. He could be awesome or he could be solid but he is unlikely to be a bust. We (hopefully) would only be trading a 15+ pick that year with Buike in the team. Powell is not as good as Fazekas so I think he could be expendable. Plus we may be able to be procure a couple of first rounders in the 2010 Lebron sweepstakes to compensate us. Sign Livingston now for min $$ and we are complete playoff bound team. GSW needs a victory and I for one would be willing to give it to them to avoid another rivalry that I am not sure we didn’t start and don’t deserve. Please Dunleavy, get Buike at any reasonable cost. He will be a fan favorite.

And now take your clip's colored glasses

and put on a Warriors colored one and then we’ll talk

I'm sorry Clipper Nation...

but Azubuike is ours. You guys need to hate Mo Evans not only cuz he played for the Lakers, but because he backed out of his deal, that made us match to get Azubuike back. We need him. He’s definitely a star on the rise.

by Golden Boy on Jul 27, 2008 6:03 PM PDT   0 recs

I gotta say

The guy hasn’t even scored 1000 NBA points.

If this is Warriors fans idea of victory…

Nothin

Im just totally up the comments about KA that Warriors fans have left here.

The elation doesn’t really match what the guy has produced to date.

So looking at Baron vs Maggette/Azubuike…

“A star on the rise” indeed.

Really?

“Decent efficiency, hits the long ball, some nice rebounding from the guard spot, takes care of the ball.

A very nice piece.”

I'm not sure but..

Wasn’t Azubuike being called a nice piece based on him getting lots of minutes as primary swingman off the bench/possible starting SG? I’m interested in seeing how many minutes he’ll play with Ellis/Maggette/Jackson/Harrington/Beleneli taking up the SG/SF positions, and with Nelson already vowing to use plenty of Belenelli and Randolph.

by OhMeOhMy on Jul 27, 2008 9:02 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

LOL

A very nice piece = A star on the rise?, He is staying a Warrior thank god?, etc.?

That’s the difference. He would have been a nice piece for the Clippers. Warriors fans expose themselves by describing him as the second coming. My point stands, and well.

Thank god indeed.

Oh come on

He’s a good young player. Whatever team he’s on.

by Jax on Jul 28, 2008 8:58 AM PDT to parent up   0 recs

LOL @ missing the point.

Noone is questioning the player.

The sudden appearance of Warriors fans on Clipsnation and the things they have to say specifically in regards to the massively disproportionate reaction to the player in question, are worthy of question.

Whatever the question, the answer is probably 45 wins and the luxury tax for the next 4 years.

What is wrong

with having Warriors fans (and with all the new fans, for that matter) on our site. They are obviously passionate about their team, and they should be. Let’s not be isolationists. Makes for a more interesting blog.

Btw, we were all pretty excited by the prospect of getting him over here.

Who said anything is wrong with guests?

But then, it doesn’t surprise that trolling loves company. And not being Clippers or their fans, you surely would find a lot to like about them. There is a lot that is characteristic about your comment. Jumping in when noone is talking to you. Intentionally missing the point. Mischaracterizing what I said. On and on and on…

I gotta say

Some of these fans probably haven’t been long time GSOM posters. Not everyone associated with GSOM lately has been happy with postings like this either.

As a visitor of this community I try to tread light and behave far better than I do in StR. (And trust me this is an understatement.)

So with that being said some of what is being said and childish, but there’s a difference between being irritated about fairly un-informed opinion, and having outsiders share it with you.

"Azubuike is a great player"

I mean, in the sense of comparing him to every person on the planet…no question.

In the NBA world, to date he has been below average. He may be great someday, but he has not proven himself to be great.

C’mon Warriors fan, be better than that. That’s all I’m saying. Look at how you are behaving. Go back to your “bored” and hug it out with your own.

Anyone may post on this board

And I for one welcome all comers. Just be reasonable. As most of you are.

by Jax on Jul 28, 2008 10:49 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Okay John R

Maybe not a star on the rise, but a real effective player. Oh well, we got him. You guys didn’t. Sucks for you guys.

by Golden Boy on Jul 28, 2008 8:14 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Dude

I see you always have to use sarcasm as a reply to anything I write. I think I’m just going to have to be honest now and say you are an ASSHOLE.

by Golden Boy on Jul 30, 2008 3:45 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Why?

Would we do this trade. You just said that we are stacked at that position yet you want to trade a player at the same position that isn’t very good and is old for a good young player.
