Zach Randloph to LA?
It appears that the Knicks are shopping ZR and I doubt that the Hawks or Bobcats are going to let Smith or Okafor get away. So where does that leave the Clips in their search for a PF? How about ZR? Yeah, he may be a bit of a distraction, but he can score and board. Not a shot blocker but Kaman's blocks increased a lot when Brand was injured. I'm not sure who the Clips would have to give up to get ZR, but it could be the move to partially fill the void left by EB when he so unceremoniously left us in the lurch.

He is still owed 3 years, $49M
Pretty steep. I would prefer Josh Smith. He can be had for about 5 yrs/$70M.

I would too
but I don’t think the Hawks will let him go.

I don't think the Hawks will pay $70M
They also want to sign Childress.

Given the choice
the Hawks have to keep JSmoov over JChill, don’t ya think?

I happen to love Childress' game
but he is not a franchise player like Smith and though i would love for Childres to be tClipper, I don’t think he fits.

Say no to Zach
No way, Randolph’s awful. The Blazers wanted to get rid of him so badly they took Francis huge expiring contract and bought him out just to get him off their team.
His pts and reb totals look nice on paper but he plays no D, his PER is always low. If it wasn’t for Eddy Curry, there would be a Zach Randolph line. Do this and we have no cap room for the next 3 years.
With Smith at least we have hope the guy turns into a super mega star, with Bo we know were going to get effed in the butt with no lube.

Z Bo's PER
is actually better than Okafor’s and not nearly as bad as Curry’s. But I agree, the money is too much to take on. Not much out there in the way of PF’s and Tim Thomas is no PF and Josh Powell is not a starter.

No
Randolph is a selfish player. He would not fit in with this team. Pick up Smith and lets look to next years free agents. Some big names will be available next year.

Marion...Boozer...
Kobe…there are guys available next year…no need to panic quite yet. The team, as assembled right now is WAY better than last year (not that that is saying much), and should be respectable….

2009 FAs
The 2009 FA pool isn’t that deep. We aren’t going to steal Kobe from the Lakers unless they implode this year. AI, Sheed, Kidd, Rip and Miller are too old for what we’re trying to accomplish. Artest is crazy plus he’s not compatible with Thornton. Odom and Marion are possibility but I don’t see how 30 year old SF/PF tweeners who rely on their athleticism will help us long-term. Boozer would be ideal, still the Jazz would be pretty crazy to break up the Williams/Boozer combo.
I think we go after Josh Smith (reasonable, the Hawks have issues in their front office) or Okafor (the Bobcats are cheap too). Smith has the chance to be a 20-10 guy while blocking alot of shots. The Western Conf also plays at a fast pace than the east so his numbers should go up a little. In 2 years we can use our cap space from the expiring TT and Mobley contract to entice a FA like Amare to come play for us.
2010 roster
SG – Eric Gordon (22 years old)
PG – Baron Davis (31 years old)
C – Chris Kaman (27 years old)
PF – Amare (27 years old)
SF – Josh Smith (24 years old)
Point being we have to have a decent nucleus to entice a top tier FA that they are that last remaining missing piece to the puzzle. Can’t wait around and be complacent, it sends the wrong message.

Very ambitious
but I like the idea. I don’t see the downside of Smith or Okafor. The Clippers will always have to overpay for talent. No use in waiting around.

Where...
did Thorton go?...granted, he will be like 38 years old 2 years from now, but still? Is he your 6th man?...I like it!!

Phoenix in two years
ClipperChuck has been going strong since yesterday, I must say.
I like Okafor better than Smith. But I suppose Smith makes more sense if you want to get a PF in 2010.
Kind of amazing that Amare’s deal is already up by then. Not sure what else Phoenix is going to have at that point—but they should have plenty of money, with Shaq gone and I assume Nash won’t be around either.

Thanks
Yea, nothing like a bath in ice cold water to wake you up. Thanks FElton.
Anyways in 2 years Amare can strong arm the Suns into a S&T (we give up a couple of draft picks and maybe Thornton?). He’ll be 27 and I doubt he’ll want to play for a loser after coming so close for so long. Nash will probably be retired or at least slowed down, Shaq will be retired, Bell will be washed up, so Amare will look around and see Barbosa and Diaw (at best) and get the heck out of town.

Z BO, the ex jailblazer
you guys dont want him, he screwed us up in portland, wayyyy selfish, argued with the coach and other players
Or u could go after rasheed, zbo, darius miles, ron artest, damon stoudimire, quintell woods
ha, that team would set a new record for most technical fouls in one season
