Around SBN: Steve McNair Found Shot to Death

-Q: How will Baron like the Clippers?

-MAGGETTE: Oh, I think he’s in for a rude awakening. I mean, that’s all I can say. I wish him the best. I’ll probably be talking to him once a week.

It’ll be a different look for him.

Media Day, part 2

Corey Maggette tells Warriors beat reporter Tim Kawakami that his good buddy Baron Davis probably won't like playing for the Clippers.

Hmmm...

That seems like something of a low blow.

Maggette is just bitter because the Clips didn’t fork over $10 mil per year.

Oh yeah — and they pointed out to him that he plays no defense.

No, he's not bitter

He didn’t appreciate the way MDSr treated him.

No, he's bitter.

Maybe rightly so for the way he was treated (a problem his large ego and lack of defense only exacerbated).

“You don’t think [Baron’s] going to like it when he’s dribbling down the court, has to stop, turn and listen to his coach call the play set? (I asked sarcastically, I admit. And Maggette knew it.)”

Lulz. Now ask him about barreling down the lane and either losing the ball off his own hands and feet, or else committing a charge, time after time after time (I’m not being sarcastic, I’d really like to know).

I’m not guaranteeing it, but I would bet that Baron Davis will get more free reign on offense from MDSr then Corey Maggette ever got or thought he was entitled to.

Well when you have more skills than driving to the right

You almost have to have more options by default.

That Maggette, always a classy guy.

Get me BD and 75 and I'm in

Sigh

It’s comments like these that make me want to boo Maggs when he returns. I understand he wanted to come back (even w/ MDSr around), but the Clips didn’t want to pay him. Ok no big deal, good luck at GSW. But why try to start crap between BD and MDSr like this? Bitter, I know. And to top it off, complain about watching 45mins of film before practice? Sorry to inconvenience you Mr. Multi-Million Dollar Athlete. Coach probably shouldn’t have bothered with someone hollow between the ears.

Sometimes we forget

that Corey, MDSr, and all these guys we look up to as entertainers are just people, with flaws, just like the rest of us.

It’s also quite ironic that many who most vociferously criticize the basketball skills or class of NBA players have very little in the way of skills or class themselves.

True no body that is not an NBA player

could match their level of play. But I think paying multi million dollars gives us a right to criticize them. But you are right athletes are human they do have flaws but because they are professionals they should be expected to act professionally. And Corey was definitely not being professional in this interview.

So it’s safe to say that Corey isn’t going to get an ovation when he returns to STAPLES…

Surprising

After at least two years, and probably more, of advanced level diplomacy, Maggette tosses this little jab? Very surprising, and hardly worth it. I really don’t want to use this as a reason to turn the critical skills on Maggs, so he gets this one pass. Well, maybe not: does he think it’s going to be so much better playing with Turiaf and Biedrins that it was with Kaman and Brand? Maybe, Maggs, you were very good and underappreciated by your coach and played for a troubled organization, but was there anything that you could have done to improve the situation?

We were all very prepared to wish Maggs the best, while most of us are disillusioned by Brand. Maggs is testing this now.

We’ll see how it goes—in that weekly conversation he expects to have, it could very easily be going the other direction, with GSW having a tougher time than the Clips.

What a Jerk

Go have sex with Brand, you jackass. I was going to cheer when he comes back but now, I’ll think I’ll boo his ass.
