just got back from the warriors game.

Well I just got back from the warriors - clippers game.  Sat in the 21st row so I had a pretty good view of a not very pretty game.

Star-divide

Very disappointed baron didn't even bother showing up.  My friend who is a pretty die hard warriors fan, laughed when they sang the national anthem and we had 8 guys standing.

That said here are some observations of mine:

1.  though both monta ellis and eric gordon are listed at 6'3"  eric is taller.  His arms are so big, they are probably as thick as monta ellis' legs.  IF monta ellis is worth 11 mil a year , eric is probably worth 20 (then again monta isnt).  His shot is also beautiful.

2.  Deandre jordan actually had a couple hook shots and even tried to do an up and under move (he missed that).   He I think maybe just needs to get used to being well IN the game and an offensive threat.  He might be really good someday,  the guy is huge and manhandled biedrins.  Also I think the more he progresses the more we can afford to trade kaman.  If anyone will take him that is.

3.  Al Thornton really doesn't have a high basketball Iq.  He's also definitely a chucker.   the guy just forces shots up and even fouled a guy on a clear path foul.  That said he has a ridiculous first step (he had stephen jackson on him most of the game so it's not like wally sczerbiak was on him).  At one point inthe game the arena started playing that "jaws movie" shark attack sound, and I swore that as the music sped up Al thought that was the shot clock and just threw up a brick.

4.  Jason hart is awful.  That guy is not an nba point guard.  On to of that his shot is terrible looking.  He doesn't really square up at all.  Its not quite shawn marion bad, but its pretty ugly.

5.  I can understand why they waived paul davis and picked up samb.  I suppose if you are going to gamble on a project you might as well gamble on a guy who is athletic.  Samb is really athletic and seems to move well and he can sometimes hit a 15 footer.  He is also really really really skinny.  Like livingston skinny.

6.  There is something wrong with ricky davis.  He seems rushed.

7.  Novak is a really really good shooter.  I'd say he's very jason kapono like but without the 5 million a year contract.  Very good pickup by dunleavy.

8.  I think marcus williams has given up.  He spent most of halftime talking to jason hart (they are both from LA was my theory) and I'm assuming didn't expect to play until it was garbage time.   He seems like he has a "half court basketball" type game,  and it would not shock me if he went to dunleavy after the game and begged him to trade for him.

We missed Mardy

Never thought I’d say it, but we definitely missed Mardy’s stability on offense and overall defensive presence.

Thornton’s -22 in 39 minutes really sticks out. EJ, on the other hand, was -5.

At least DeAndre proved his breakout game against the Lakers wasn’t a fluke tonight, and Novak was able to knock down a few toward the end to make the final look a little less ugly.

thought just occured to me..

we started 2 rookies , with 1 year out of college, fred jones, buckets, and Al. I think a game against uconn would be close.

first off after watching monta today...

he’s not nearly as fast as during that playoff run. did you watch that guy play today. he cant play point. he cant guard big shooting guards. a nd he’s not nearly as fast.

maybe he’ll recover.

i know you warrior fans are bitter. we committed 65 million to baron which might be a mistake. but at least we didnt stupidly sign maggs, jackson, ellis and biedrins and crawford as the entire core of our team, making something like 55 million a year that no other team would have paid them (the only guy worth it is andris). 4 shootng guards and a center. nice.

Are you just looking at offense?

Monta – he can penetrate like no other…he’s agile, quick, and can break down defenses. What he lacks is true court vision. His help D is good, but 1 on 1 is not.

EJ – Strong, can shoot the lights out, can penetrate. Offense is comparable to Monta. He is a better passer and a better defender.

Keep in mind, EJ is a rook and Monta has been playing for a few years now.

I may be bias, but I give the slight edge to EJ.

Offense is not comparable when Monta is healthy

and Monta is better rebounder.Passing and defense are comparable.Give Monta(full recovered) current(injured) Clippers team and his stats would be like 32 pts., 50 FG%, 6 reb., 7 ast.,3 stl.
And I have kept the bias aside.

Monta vs Gordon

I think Monta is obviously a lot quicker than Gordon and its uncanny how he is able to put the ball in the hole around bigger defenders…just lightening quick but Gordon hands down is stronger and a better 3 point shooter….and if you add in the fact that Gordon is a better defender than Monta, I think I would much rather have Gordon over Monta on my team…it would definitely be close but Gordon has so much upside at this stage in his career that I gotta go with him.
