Silly trade rumor (Camby to Knicks for Q. Rich)

This one is beyond absurd

Star-divide

NY Daily News reports that the Knicks are working on a three team trade that would send Marcus Camby and Channing Frye to the Knicks, David Lee to the Blazers, and Quenton Richardson to the Clippers.

This has to be the absolute worst trade rumor ever.  Let me get this straight.  The Clippers would trade their absolute best player, a guy who is having a career year (highest career PER avg, top 20 in PER) to the Knicks, who would send perhaps their best player (Lee) to another team, who would send another very good player (Frye) back to NY, while the Clippers get a guy averaging 12 pts a game in the D'Antoni system, having one of his worst seasons as a pro.

It would be one thing to have read this on some blog.  But for a major newspaper to print this, with the healine being that the Knicks are considering this trade, as if it is on the table for them and they are thinking about it, is ridiculous.  And it isn't even Peter Vescey.

Camby has struggled to NOT grab 20 rebounds per night during the past few weeks.  He is absolutely fierce on the boards, and has essentially caught up to Dwight Howard for the NBA lead in that category.

And check out his PER rating:

16 Amare Stoudemire, PHO 31 37.2 .555 .826 .631 9.9 12.6 22.1 6.9 19.7 13.8 22.70
17 Pau Gasol, LAL 31 34.9 .562 .799 .621 18.7 9.8 19.2 9.2 18.8 14.2 22.56
18 Marcus Camby, LAC 29 34.7 .515 .748 .564 15.9 9.6 14.7 10.8 33.7 21.8 21.79
19 Kevin Garnett, BOS 34 32.6 .532 .844 .568 14.0 10.2 21.0 5.1 25.9 16.1 21.40

The 34 year old Camby is having a career year, albeit on a bad team.  I am going to go ahead and call BS on this trade.  If it does happen as outlined here, I will admit that I have seen it all.

hmmm

Definitely has the feel of a trade proposal from the annoying guy in your fantasy league. He even has lots of great justification for it. “You’ve got too many centers – you need outside shooting – Camby for Q makes perfect sense for you! Plus Q is 6 years younger!”

But in the end, unless there are some MAJOR sweeteners in this deal (like unprotected draft picks), there’s no way the Clippers even listen. Q may be 6 years younger, but he’s still 28, with a history of back trouble. And his contract is almost identical to Camby’s, so there’s no advantage to doing the deal in that regard.

Great deal for the Knicks. Great deal for the Blazers. Why would the Clippers play? Does Isola just think the Clippers are there to help?

Only if we can rebuild big on it

It would be really really sad to part with him, but the truth is this season is a waste, and maybe it´s time to start thinking about next year. MAYBE the Clippers should listen, but only adding to the mix a pick AND a young player like Rudy Fernandez

Ridiculous
With the holiday season over, trade talks are expected to pick up this week, and teams such as the Portland Trail Blazers and Los Angeles Clippers could be major movers. The Knicks could get involved in talks with both teams in an attempt to land a desperately needed shot-blocking presence such as Marcus Camby.

The Clippers, who have struggled all season, have a logjam in the frontcourt, especially after acquiring Zach Randolph from the Knicks on Nov. 21. It is believed they might consider moving Camby, who has an expiring contract, for the right piece to fit into their thin backcourt.

That’s from Alan Hahn at Newsday!

I am so sick of all these writers making it sound like the Clippers are willing to trade away quality players for vague, unknown(“the right piece?”)/bad players(Q Rich) in return. These writers are ridiculous! What do they think? Teams with bad records should just dump guys “they don’t need”?

Hey, how about OKC dumping Jeff Green? or Westbrook? They suck too, plus they have Durrant. Or how about the Timberwolves dumping Al Jefferson now that they have Love? They suck too. Oh wait. McHale is the GM they might actually make a ridiculous trade….

Just saw

that the Clippers waived Paul Davis and Fred Jones. I know Jones is hurt, but Paul Davis? Seems to me there must be some sort of trade afoot.
