Origin of the bogus Camby rumor
Un-real.

Yesterday, the NY Daily News reported that the Knicks, Blazers and Clippers were working on a three team trade that would send Marcus Camby and Channing Frye to NY, David Lee to Portland, and Quenten Richardson back to LA for his second tour of duty.
We here at Clipsnation immediately called BS on the rumor. I mean, why on earth would the Clips send the absolute best player away, and in return take the least productive player involved in the deal? (I mean, it is the Clippers, but they wouldn't be that dumb, right?)
Today, the Daily News cross-town rival, the NY Post reports that the story was indeed crap, and that the reporter learned of the rumor from " a posted comment on a Knick blog by a person claiming to have ties with the Clippers."
Kidding me? Not just a blog, but the comments section of a blog. This is a serious case of journalistic malpractice. The Post sure thinks it's funny.

Wow
I mean, seriously, wow.
That’s pretty amazing. I mean, I’m trying to figure out the rules as I go along here, and hopefully journalism school will help a little. But that’s pretty bad.

Unbelievable
This is a new low. What sort of journalistic standards do they have in New York?
Even the Post article ends saying “The Clippers have shopped Camby.” What is that statement based on?
This was a great catch Mikey, but the links to the Post don’t appear to be working right.

BTW, how do you set up links attached to specific words as in your post?

"The Clippers have Shopped Camby"
That was certainly a strange way to end that post, and it makes me think it was a mistake. Not shopped? Just left over from some other thought? It was out of context at least.
The little icon that looks like three links in a chain above the text box lets you embed links. Highlight the word, click the chain icon, put in the URL you want.
Peter Vecsey goes on at length about the bogus rumor, how great Camby is, and how the Clippers wouldn’t ever be interested in this deal. Vecsey is the king of criticizing other reporters for printing bogus rumors, but of course he’s been known to float some whoppers himself. But if what Berman says about this trade rumor coming from a post on a Knicks message board, that is really egregious.
Check out the details also. The Clippers were supposedly also giving up DeAndre in this trade. Yes, sure. We’ll get rid of Camby and Jordan in exchange for QRich. Who wouldn’t do that deal?

Couldn't stop laughing at GSOM posters
last week with the Corey for Baron nonsense. “This makes sense for the Clips!” It must if it largely benefits everyone else involved, right?

Mikey
Kudos to you on calling BS on this one right away. We don’t often get such clear confirmation on the BS, but this time we did.
Also, can you fix the links in the original post so that they work for people?

I have ties with the Knicks...
and I can report that they’ve contact the Clippers about trading David Lee and Nate Robinson for Ricky Davis and the rights to swap second round draft picks in 2058. I have heard this from the highest sources in the Knicks organization so it’s all right for the LA Times to print this.

Ridiculous.
I really can’t stand how this is the only time that the Clippers get any national attention. I’m not saying that they deserve any, but, and I know I’m about the hundreth person to say this, why does everybody think that they Clippers are willing to give up some of their top players for crappy players?! And not just crappy players, but crappy FORMER CLIPPERS! I mean, QRich and Maggs, whose next? FElton?

It's probably due to our long history...
of making absolutely bone headed trades and letting good players go for nothing…from Tom Chambers to Terry Cummings, to Byron Scott on draft night, to Lamar Odom, and maybe EB…the consensus in the NBA is that we’re a development team for the rest of the league. You better bet that teams are lining up right now trying to talk Dunleavy into trading Gordon for a bag of peanuts and a pack of cigarettes.

Tom Chambers?
How could you, MichaelCage, say that the trade that sent Chambers to the Sonics for James Donaldson (a one time all star) and a pick that became you, Michael Cage, was a bad trade?
