HUSTLE AND HEART
That’s what the Clippers showed me tonight. Coming off a 19 point win against the Lakers, the Warriors carried that momentum into tonight’s game. In seasons past, 57 points from the Clippers at the half would be a good sign. However, the Warriors started out fast as well with 73 of their own. That all changed at the start of the 2nd half when a completely different Clipper team came out of the locker room. Baron Davis led the charge controlling the offense. They came away with the lead in the 3rd and carried it to the end of the game. Exciting stuff. Clippers win :124-117. Here are my thoughts:
- Baron Davis is back. I’ve been hearing that the beard is back, but I didn’t realize how thick he grew it in. In the 2nd half, he found wide open men on the transition. He went aggressively to the basket, kicking out to wide open players. The shoot first point guard took a step back it really helped. It looks to me like he is having a really fun time out there too with this squad. We all know that a happy Baron Davis is a great one.
- Chris Kaman can score. His jumper is looking good from the top of the key. He completely decisive and knows what he’s going to do with the ball. Tonight, he didn’t look lost. He could catch the ball anywhere on the court and immediately spin around and this the shot.
- Blake Griffin is as good as advertised. Never giving up on any play, he was gobbling up rebounds, getting blocks, playing D, and scoring. He even drew two charges. Rookies don’t do that. He plays like he’s been in the league for years. One thing I didn’t get to see was his jump shot. 15 points, 9 rebounds in only 23 minutes.
Key Stats: 27 pts from Butler, 22 pts from Gordon, Kaman 16 pts, Griffin 15 pts, 11 assts for Baron Davis
