Poll: Wing Time
It's way too early in the season to tell.
But what the heck - I'm bored. Let's debate!
Who should start at SF? Who should be first off the bench?
Easy right? AT just got picked up for another season so he's the starter right? He reminds some of Dominique? How could he not be the #1 SF?
Whoa, hold on says Mr. Rasual Butler! He's 30, in his prime - dropping threes like Novak, defending like QRoss - sure looks like his preseason play is saying "I should be starting!".
So let's go with those two choices and some crazies, just for fun.

I say start Butler
he is a better defender and a better shooter. That also allows Al to be the 6th man where I think he can be really useful as a scoring punch in the 2nd unit.
In Gordon we trust
just because of a few games you cant start him. Al is a SF, and he belongs with the starting line up. he has proven himself. last year, him and gordon were the only ones worth recognizing.

How about a category "Way too early tell. Let's collect some data points against different teams and decide in about ten days"?
That would garner my vote.

It is too early
However Butler is more of the “glue guy” we were discussing during the summer. He’s the better perimeter shooter, better defender and I think he fits in better with the starters. I think Al can flourish with Bassy, DJ, Camby and Craig Smith off the bench, he’ll clearly be the 1st or 2nd option while with the starters Kaman, Griffin, Baron and EJ are all better options.

if Butler starts
who is the backup SG?
at least if AT start, Butler can back up AT or EJ
if Ricky Davis emerges, then problem solved…Mardy is a good to great asset. but we shouldnt look at him as the primary backup SG
its possible for Sual to slide over to the 2 when EJ rests
and Ricky can have the extra minutes in between i suppose.
Rasual can play the backup 2 minutes
EJ is going to play about 35-40 per night which only leaves 12 or less minutes. Sool can slide over or Baron can play SG off Bassy. Butler can play about 20 minutes at the 3 and Thornton will get most of those other minutes. Collins and Ricky can play a few garbage minutes here or there.
The much bigger logjam is at the 4 and 5. Blake is going to get 30 minutes, Kaman should too, I see Camby see lower minutes (25-28) since he’s getting older which leaves DJ and Rhino about 15 minutes to split between them. DJ and Rhino will get a lot of playing time when Kaman or Camby miss/sit out a game. It’s a good problem to have on paper but it could cause issues in the locker room if we get off to a poor start. If we are winning then that alleviates the issue a lot.
