Poll: That 8th Playoff Spot

Various experts have been speculating about which 8 teams will make the playoffs in the Western Conference.  Common wisdom says San Antonio, the Lakers, Denver, Portland, Utah, and Dallas have the edge to get in.  New Orleans is usually included here too, but their roster, with new starters and a lousy bench, leaves me unconvinced.  After that, IMO, the most serious contenders are Phoenix, Houston, and our Clippers.  That leaves four teams for two slots.  Or is there a fifth, you think?

Baring injury the Hornets will most definately make the playoffs

i just dont see Chris Paul allowing his team to join the lottery, let alone David West. that being said, this is kind of a trick question because options 1,2, 4, and 6 imply the hornets miss the 7 AND 8 seed. I just dont see that happening assuming health is not an issue. That being said, I’m picking the Clipps to have a slight edge over the Suns.

No trick intended

I agree it’s against the grain, but N.O. doesn’t look that good to me. The other top 6 seem much more set. If we’re going to speculate, then I think the four I have are the ones to go with. Who would yours be?

The real competition is PHX

They are an aging team and they lost Shaq and Matt Barnes. On the flip side Amare should be better.

We can’t forget that the Warriors are still dangerous, the Rockets aren’t completely out of the picture and if Memphis can capture lightning in a bottle they could make the AI/Zbo/Mayo/Gay combo somehow work.

LAC and NOLA

I picked Clips and Hornets too…but I’m obviously being SUPER optimistic.

I actually think it’s very possible that we end up 9th and it’s the Hornets and Suns or some team that comes out of nowhere.

My hope is that Phx really starts to show their age this season. After them, it’s a dogfight between the Clips, Warriors, Rockets and even OKC.

None of the Above,

I think that we may push for First in the Pacific and if that is the case we would be in the top Four.

Should the question be, "Who gets left out?"

I wasn’t specifically thinking about the order of seeding, just who the top 8 are going to be. Do you suppose Utah might miss out?

LAC and Utah

I agree with a few others, in that I don’t think the Hornets have that great of a team this year. They will struggle to score points night in and night out.
