A Quick Programming Note
The Clippers are scheduled to play in the Lakers-hosted mini tournament this weekend.
They play tomorrow against the Jazz. Tip time for that one is 4:30. Later that night, at 7:30, the Lakers face the Bobcats.
Then on Sunday, the losers from Saturday face each other and the winners face each other. The times will be 4:30 and 7:30 again, but we don't know which one the Clippers will play in. Whichever game the Lakers are in will be the 7:30 game. So if both the Clippers and Lakers win or they both lose, then they'll face off at 7:30. If the Clippers and Lakers have different results, then the Clippers will play the Bobcats at 4:30.
The good news in all this is that the game will be on TV if it's against the Lakers, so there's about a 50-50 chance of that. We'll have to listen to Joel and Stu, but at least we can watch the game.

Clippers Pre -season Games rarely on TV
It’s been going on for years now that during the pre-season when supposedly they are promoting the team and ticket sales the Clips are rarely shown on TV. Now even will a new (supposedly hot) TV deal they still are scheduled only twice. Any idea or knowledge why? Does it come out of DTS’s pocket? I can’t see that as the reason, but….

For one thing, there’s still a few teams that don’t televise preseason games…maybe one or two a year (like the Clippers this year), but that’s pretty much it. It all pretty much comes down to ratings. Fox Sports (Prime Ticket) is a rights fee to televise the Clippers games, not the other way around. Let’s not forget that since every Clipper game will be cable-only now and for the immediate future, the team has to share time with the Ducks, sometimes the Kings, high school football, and the regional and national college football broadcasts from Fox Sports Net. Believe me, you’re gonna see plenty of promotion of the team on TV as the regular season takes place.

I believe it should be; it would be on Fox Sports West.

If I have to listen to Joel and Stu....
I find it is better to watch the game with the sound off. Although, they should give some props to BG, EG, and DeAndre. They will also mention that DeAndre had a big game vs the Lakers—- as a rookie I will add—- BUT BYNUM HAD A BIGGER GAME AND IT SO AMAZING AND WE LOVE BYNUM AND HE IS SO LONG AND HE WORKS WITH JABBAR AND HE MAKES FREE THROWs AND BLAH BLAH BLAH. And Artest and Shannon Brown, OH AND KOBE WE LOVE KOBE #24 HE IS THE GREATEST AND IF WE COULD WE WOULD RUB KOBES FEET AND RUB HIS SHOULDERS

Mama there goes that man again
is a Mark Jackson quote. I think Stu normally refers to Kobe as the Kobester.

It is me, or is Stu Lantz the most overrated analyst in the NBA? In my view, he’s the master of the obvious (well, like most analysts are anyway), and the great Chick Hearn carried him all those years. Stu working with Paul Sunderland and Joel Meyers just exposed him as an above-average analyst at best. With my Clipper bias aside, I like what Mike Smith brings to the broadcasts, because he not tell you what happened, but the “how” and “why” it happened, and what could be done differently the next time.
Steve Stone of WGN on the Cubs and now White Sox telecasts is kinda the same way; he always has a knack of predicting plays. Most former coaches make better analysts anyway, like Doug Collins (who’s also a former player) and Mike Fratello.

clippers vs.
this will be the 1 and only time I want the Lakers to win the game tonight (they’re winning at halftime) so the Clips will play them on TV tomorrow so I can watch it and ignore the dinner part for me cause i go home to nyc tomorrow. will league pass have all of the clippers games on this season, even if all home games and pacific division games basically start at 10:30pm for me there?
