Localizing the Arena Experience through Food and In-N-Out
There was an interesting article on nba.com in regards to new restaurants in the Cavaliers area. Iron Chef Michael Symon is responsible. Here is the article: http://www.nba.com/2009/news/10/19/ironchef.cavs.ap/index.html
Here is a quote that stood out:
"Team spokesman Tad Carper said the addition of Symon is part of a trend by NBA teams to localize the arena experience by connecting with area businesses."
What local eateries or restaurants do you think symbolize Southern California? Does Staples center already accomplish this? What are your thoughts on having an In-N-Out be that resturant in Staples Center that represents the Southern California experience. Would it even be possible for a unique resturant such as In-N-Out to set up station at Staples center?
I think it would be nice to have an In-N-out in Staples center, but serving at a sporting arena may have In-N-Out prioritizing quantity over quality; this could potentially hurt their image. Although, having In-N-Out only offered during Clipper games is tempting as an attendance booster.
Thank you for your time.

Someone contacted In N Out a while back
and they basically said they couldn’t do it. They are family owned business I’m not sure they would be keen on opening a branch that they would not be able to 100% run. Although it would awesome if they did open an In N Out and it would be much better then any other food at Staples.
In Gordon we trust
That's why I make sure I'm never hungry at sporting events.
I get so angry looking at the price of food such as pizza hut or a carl’s jr. burger when I know down the street I can get the same product for half the price.

But the game is at its best
with food and drinks. And sometimes your voice gets tired from cheering your team on. But yeah, I wish a burger dindt cost like 7 bucks. That’s just a rip.
I was the one who contacted IN N OUT in the summer.
I told them along with the majority of the fans who would LOVE one of their restaurants in the building, they would even be able to promote their most popular item along side a NBA stat line. I mean they could give away “double-doubles” or something like that every time a player on the clips attains one in a game! Anyway, they called me back and said that they’ll have their real estate dept look in to moving into staples. I doubt anything will happen but if anymore of you guys want to send them a request too…
Well, since the Fox Sports SkyBar is no longer in business at Staples (largely thanks to the glut of eateries at L.A. Live), there’s an open spot to add an restaurant at the arena, whether it be In-N-Out or someone else. As long as the food is affordable and tastes good, that’s all I care about. Whenever I go to a Clipper game, I usually eat beforehand…either at the Sizzler near my job or the Denny’s up the street at 9th and Figueroa.
Go to Yardhouse
Half off a big big menu for Happy Hour.

I’ve been to the Yard House (once, shortly after it opened)…it does have good food. The ESPN Zone food (at least the one in Anaheim) is good too, but it’s too damn pricey. I took a date there for Valentine’s Day this year, and between our entrees, hard drinks (we each had a refill), and gratutity, I spent almost $80. I plan on (and hoping) going to the home opener, and I am thinking going to the Yard House for a pre-game dinner. The chicken strips are really good.
Just make sure to put your order in by 6
that’s when Happy Hour ends. I normally get there by 5:45 on game day and hang out for a hour or so over dinner and drinks.

You should try
the flying dutchman. My girlfriend and I had it the other day and liked it. What it is is a patty, cheese, and another patty. Although it looks and sounds not too tempting, its actually pretty good!
if in n out is there as a resturant
then ok.
but if its there as a concession stand. NO!
the concession stands are either something u never heard outside of the staples or macdonalds. why? because they need to be fast (to get more customers and/or get back to watching the game)….and in order to be fast they have to loose out on something…quality. and in n out can never/should never lower their quality.
…..now if staples security started letting people bring in their white paper bags with red designs through the doors…that’s a good idea.
Yeah, logistically...
In-N-Out couldn’t work because of the way they prepare the food (i.e. they don’t microwave). The proper space they would require would be a non-starter considering the current layout of those concession stands at staples center which are generally long and shallow.
Even at their full-service restaurants and staff of 20 or so, they still get backed up regularly during the lunch hours. Imagine the fire-safety nightmare and long lines that one single In-N-Out stand would cause!
Turn the old SkyBox Location in to a HomeTown Buffet.
That would be the Best.
It sucks LA Live kicked out all the Fair priced Food spots,
SkyBox
Bacon Hot Dog Carts
What’s next?
2 dinner minimum per over price parking spot at one of the overpriced joints like Lawry’s or WolfGang puck$ with a validation of the meal or you have to pay the extra to get your car.
In-N-Out is sorry, it tastes like Cardboard and is has to small, dinky burgers (even the 4 × 4).
If it must be a Burger Joint then Fatburger or Five Guys are Way Better.
I think that Yard House is holding down LA Live right now as the best food spot.
What happened to the Staples Baja chicken Tenders meal? that was by far the best in Staples Center.
Everything starts out New, Gets Old and Dies or is Destroyed.
HomeTown has bad quality food
and why would u have a buffet during the game?
the point of a buffet is to stay for a long time to eat a lot. i dont think people would by sports tix just to eat the whole game at the buffet
Arena Club is a buffet.
but you can see the game from there.

Have you ever had the BBQ Beef ribs at Hometown? They blow away any I have ever eaten.
The meat just falls off the bone. The food there is just as good as the Arena Club and not $30.00 a plate.

enter out burger
has anybody ever seen or had enter out, its a fake in n out i once had in i think alhambra like 8 yrs ago(i live in ventura county not sure if its still there)…also i am pretty sure staples is the only arena that has huge amounts of TAPATIO which is very so cal
Some LA Places
Roscoes, Pinkberry, Pinks, King Taco, The Hat, Tommys… personally I would pig out over King Taco (love their ridiculously spicy red salsa).

I was just thinking about Original Tommy’s…I work not too far from the original location at Beverly and Rampart. I haven’t been up there in quite awhile, but it’s always packed. The one at Universal Citywalk isn’t bad either. Much like In-n-Out, it’s another family owned establishment. Not sure about them setting up shop at Staples, but with all these new buildings popping up around the South Park area.
