Maccabi at Clippers - Open Thread
The Clippers game tonight isn't just pre-season. It's a pre-season exhibition. So all of the caveats we usually attach to pre-season games are doubled for this one. It's just pre-season PLUS it's not NBA competition.
But it is a good team. Maccabi is a perennial power in the EuroLeague, the top league in the world after the NBA. As often happens with European teams, the Maccabi roster turned over pretty significantly this year. Among the bigger names on the team are Chuck Eidson, Maciej Lampe, Stephane Lasme and Alan Anderson. They traditionally have had really strong point guard play, with Sarunas Jasikevicius a few years back and Carlos Arroyo the last couple of seasons. But with Arroyo returning to the NBA, they'll be relying on Andrew Wisniewski this season, which could be a problem. For you USC fans David Bluthenthal is also on on the team.
For the Clippers, MDsr would like to give Rasual Butler a night off, but may not be able to if Al Thornton can't go. Ditto for Baron Davis and Sebastian Telfair. If Bassy is alright to play decent minutes, then Baron will likely get the night off.
No TV on this one, just AM 980.

well theres been one highlight already: http://www.nba.com/video/games/clippers/2009/10/20/0010900097_mta_lac_play1.nba/
That's a good highlight
One thing that has been said about Griffin, that is true and significant, is that it’s nice to have a guy who can get the rebound and start the break himself. He made a nice pass ahead to Ricky there.

Yeah...
It wasn’t on a lot of calendars since it’s not against an NBA opponent. I probably should have talked it up more, but frankly I’m not that into it either.

Doesn’t seem like anyone else is into it either.

And the last Clippers’ roster spot goes to … Kareem Rush.

More on the Durant plus/minus saga
In 35 minutes, Durant went 11-22, 9 rebounds, and MINUS 23! James Harden started with him, played 26 minutes, 5-10, and had MINUS 0. It’s hard to see how that’s possible.
And while we're at it...
Against Denver tonight, Sessions played 19 minutes and went MINUS 38. That might be a new record.

Some really weird plus/minus numbers in that one.
