Let's Try to Be Rational for a Moment..

...I know it's hard and disappointing, but we have to think about it before we press the panic button.

Last year we were extremely excited about this team, we thought it could do damage.  This was before the arrival of Blake Griffin.  We didn't even have Blake Griffin in the realm of consciousness.

The team is already better than last year's in every position, excluding Blake Griffin.  It's still possible to do well in the first few weeks.

DJ will just have to develop faster.  Camby will have to speed up his recovery timeline.

Who was the backup point guard last year? Upgraded with Bassy

Who was the backup SG and SF? Upgraded with Sual

Then there's the front court.  Kaman, Camby, DJ, Smith and even Novak.  The team's front court is already deep, certain (you know who) players need to mentally show up and it's all good.

So let's think about it before we cry too much.

I am extremely disappointed in not being able to see the exciting and dynamic Griffin for another 6 weeks (let's hope he doesn't get stuck on the Kaman vortex timeline of doom), but there's still a lot to look forward to.

i agree with you here, plus AT is going to have to step up. The vets on this team have already established the fact Blake didnt have to be a savior, just fit in. We still can make some noise in the western conference.

DJ, Kaman, Camby, Rhino, Skinner at the 4 and 5
Sual, AL, Mardy, and Novak at the 3
EJ and Buckets at the 2
Baron and Bassy at the 1

Still a potent team

Blake get well soon!

You know what

This willbe like last year but possibly a bit more healthier. I mean, we have a pretty good looking Baron Davis, an improved Flash Gordon, I’m hoping a better-diet Thornton, Camby (or Smith depending on injury status), and a seemingly healthier Kaman. I’m with Newtybar (Nudybar LOL jk, sorry it first poped up in my head), even though I’m disappointed that Blake can’t mak his debut, it doesn’t mean the Clippers lost their fight in them. It just means th Clippers will have to work a bit harder!

Yep

My nickname is a play on the word Nudybar. Considering my real name is Newton.

Everyone calls me newty and then it got extended to newtybar.

The 2 is a actually a little deeper that

with the addition of Rush. I think we’re good! Just feel sorry for Blake not getting ROY.

Yah....

I totally understand what you are saying. tHere is no doubt this team is deep, but Big G brings heart, hustle, and determination every game that gets passed on to his teammates.

This is a huge lose for this team. Blake does the little things that win basketball games. With Blake Griffin this is a playoff team, without Blake Griffin we are a sub .500 team.

True

But Craig Smith also can bring that heart, hustle, and determination. For an undersizd 6’7, I’ve constnatly heard about his ongoing hussle and how hard he works inside the paint and that he never gives up.

There is no doubt that

Craig Smith does bring heart, hustle, and determination, but he does not bring the explosiveness that Big G does. Blake can make game changing plays, such as block shots, alley oop dunks, and other out of this world plays.

Heh

Yea I thought of that too, I’m thinking the shirts are a Madden-like curse.

FA in 2010.

Say it aint so

I feel like crying :(
Is there a patron saint for athletes we can pray to? Make offerings to ? What a horrible start to my morning to read that our “chosen one” is out for 6 weeks.

its ok, blake will just be fresher at the end of the season. we’ll be ok. i have tickets to the nov 6th warriors-clippers game up in norcal.

i am a little disappointed that ill be seeing blake in street clothes, but i still think we’ll be ok.

we are playing the twolves like 3 times in the 6 weeks, so if we can stay around .500 we should be fine
