I'm going to sit in as a Clippers fan tonight

Love the players this team has, especially Gordon, so as I wait for my Pacers to tip off tomorrow night, I’ll cheer on the Clips tonight.

by Nathan S. on Oct 27, 2009 7:28 PM PDT reply actions

funny how neutral fans always cheer for us over the lakers

the clips may not have the best track record, but hey, at least they ain’t as hated as the lakers

by jon y on Oct 27, 2009 7:33 PM PDT up reply actions

Obviously

I have no love loss for what happened in 2000, but I’ve always had a soft spot for the Clippers regardless of who they’ve played (unless it’s Indiana; that Gordon corner three last year was a dagger in my heart! I felt betrayed about five times in that shot), but it’d be pretty sweet to see them take down the Lakers tonight, for sure.

by Nathan S. on Oct 27, 2009 7:36 PM PDT up reply actions

C'mon you Clippers

Bingo! Oh me oh my!

by ClippersUK on Oct 27, 2009 7:35 PM PDT via mobile reply actions

A little love from Chuck

That’s refreshing. Although, he doesn’t have the best track record either.

by Lawler 4ever on Oct 27, 2009 7:43 PM PDT reply actions

TNT Stream

If you go to nba.com there’s a link to a live stream of the game. It shows 4 different camera angles. It looks a lot like the NFL version from last year.

Five more FGA for the Clippers

If they’d take better shots, they might have a nice little lead.

What do you expect?

I like the effort, but Dunleavy’s schemes are bad as ever, if you can even call them schemes.

Must be out of your damn mind to be optimistic DURING

a game like this. Go back to being optimistic tomorrow. Tonight, we’re going down in flames.

In an unbiased world....

This game would be very, very close. 25 fouls for the Clippers, 13 fouls on the Lakers. Did I mention that the Lakers have shot 19 more free throws?

how many teams will be able to beat the Lakers at home this year

by 5ryu on Oct 27, 2009 10:23 PM PDT up reply actions

not many

but still. We played terrible. If we just play mediocre we possible win this game.

even with the loss, im not dissappointed at all

by ItwillbeFATAL on Oct 27, 2009 10:19 PM PDT reply actions

Sloppy, but I kind of agree

I did not expect to win this game. It shows our team has depth to compete. However, we need to stop turning over the ball and rebound better, we can compete if we run the floor

by Qlippers on Oct 27, 2009 10:23 PM PDT via mobile up reply actions

There are a few plays that need to be looked at...

AT had two 3 pt field goals called 2s. We can look at the replay to see whether or not the ball went off teh Clippers, but we can’t check AT’s threes?

by NBAFAN8 on Oct 27, 2009 10:25 PM PDT up reply actions

God, where r the replacement refs

Everything is a foul for the lakers, but they are also the aggressor.
Why won’t the refs check the offensive interference for dj

I enjoyed this game....

I thought the Clippers played well, and if they would have played good they could have won the game. Actually I am kidding myself when I say that. The refs would not have allowed that to happen :(

baron sucks

DJ sucked
butler sucked for the most part

Eric Gordon is a beast
Chris Kaman in back
Craig Smith is def a rhino
Bassy can pass the ball (but he needs to work on his jumper)

Those guys in at the end and you guys had a shot....

im a Warriors fan, hoping for the upset…just didnt understand the logic in a game that was within striking distance. Camby was solid and got no time what so ever. ridiculous.

by Jagz8 on Oct 27, 2009 10:31 PM PDT reply actions

I don't think anyone can say anything negative about Kaman and Eric Gordon

They were very good and they will both have great seasons. I was amazed with Eric Gordon’s ability to blow by his defenders and also his ability to pass the ball. Kaman is in great shape and his shot looks really good.

by NBAFAN8 on Oct 27, 2009 10:41 PM PDT up reply actions

One sided??

Lakers had the favourable foul count 15-27
Lakers had favourable free throw attempts 37-16
Clippers bench outscored Lakers 29-9

I didn;t see any of the game so try and decipher the box score. I’ll blame the refs for the one sided stats noted above.

I’m just thankful that Camby & Kaman got through unscathed.

by Natedog1977 on Oct 27, 2009 10:34 PM PDT reply actions

You are exact on point with this one

If you saw the box score and only the box score, you would see that the Clippers were sloppy with the basketball, but at the same time as a team they played well enough to win. The only things that kept them from winning were Baron Davis, Deandre Jordan, and the refs.

by NBAFAN8 on Oct 27, 2009 10:39 PM PDT up reply actions

Same thing as last season

Sloppy offense. Bad shot selection though we shot a better % than the Lakers.

It comes down to those free throws. Lakers weren’t that good tonight. We play mediocre the whole game and get the refs to call a fair game and we win.

by dulciusEXasperis on Oct 27, 2009 10:40 PM PDT up reply actions

"same thing as last season"

is right, the Lakers still get the calls.

The Lakers shot more free throws (36) than any team tonight and the committed the least amount of fouls (15)

by NBAFAN8 on Oct 27, 2009 10:48 PM PDT up reply actions

i'll just say this

….I loooooovvvvveee Barkley! Man was he defending this team with wisdom, while Webber and Kenny sounded like canned phrased fools. Its funny how Kenny and Barkley flip flopped on their open support for the clippers from a few years back. This was a good game. For weeks I was not banking on beating the defending champs on their home opener after getting their rings but I did expect to be close and we were. That was satisfactory. The Rhino is a true one better than I thought. Gordon was great! Butler and Thornton we’re minimal and Kaman kept us alive with his rebounding.

by Takebb909 on Oct 27, 2009 10:42 PM PDT via mobile reply actions

Hey, we had no Griffin, subpar Baron, Al, and DeAndre, turnovers up the wazoo, numerous little (and big) mistakes, and the refs in the Lakers’ back pocket more than usual, and yet we only lost by seven. We even had it down to a one point deficit at the end of the third. True, some of that was Lakers sleepwalking and of course no Pao, but last year’s squad would have given up the first time they were down by fifteen in the first half. Yet this year’s team, again far from 100%, didn’t give up when down by fifteen in the fourth. A loss is still a loss, but unlike last year’s season opener they can actually take something away from this loss and build on it. So I’m still a member of Club Optimism…but they better win tomorrow!

by edk3 on Oct 27, 2009 10:47 PM PDT reply actions

Yeah, a loss is a loss

but considered how much the odds were stacked against us, I’m not that surprised. Every time we got close, bunch of fouls would be called and we’d be down by double digits again. So I’m not mad, this game was impossible to win anyways.

Craig Smith and Bassy were suprises of the night. Kamen had a decent game but I know he can play better. He could’ve fought for the rebounds more and hit more easy shots.

Baron Davis though needs to step up though, tonight was embarassing for him.

by peterghost on Oct 27, 2009 10:57 PM PDT reply actions

I saw many good things

from the Clippers tonight. I went with my son to the game. I think there were about 12 Clipper fans there. I thought Gordon had a strong game despite being hampered by foul trouble and being hounded by Kobe. He looks very confident on both ends of the floor and is fearless going to the rim. Thorton still looks lost offensively, but it was nice to see him get some boards. Kaman looks good and was very active defensively. Bassy looks in control running the offense. He made some great passes and knocked down some shots.
Craig Smith looked amazing in the first half, but not so much in the second half. He should be a solid performer and be able to contribute quite a bit while Blake is out.
Baron had an awful game, but I am not ready to give up on him yet. DJ was also disappointing.
I didn’t expect they would win the game, but it was good to see them make it a competitive game despite some bad calls . Hopefully after these first four games they will be 2-2.

my thoughts

pluses in tonight’s game: telfair’s ability to run the offense, craig smith’s bea$tliness, EJ aka the hobbit’s and1’s, and kaman’s flashes on offense.

negatives: bdiddy forcing countless shots (like usual), occasional lapses on defense, bad calls, rasual butler sucking like crazy (waive him please), thornton also forcing up bad shots, camby shooting a 3pointer (?!?!?!), and mr. flippy sightings.

... we sittin here talking about practice. not a game, not a game.
