I agree with Marcus Camby...
who said before the game yesterday...
"this will be a good Measuring stick for where our team is"
And right before the game I told Big Z that "last year they lost by 38 and it took their heart"..This year, we don't have to win this game...we just have to measure up to the 38 point loss from last season..I figure if we lost by 38 again, it would be same old season..by 15 we got about 50% better..etc...etc...And if we just got close..say within 5 or so..you know..striking distance...I'd say we were ready to be competitive this season...
Well guess what guys...we got within 7 points of the defending western conference champs on a night they MUST win..i mean damn, did you see Tex winter over there? They weren't gonna be able to drop THIS one..
I'll take our 7 point loss on the chin like man...keep your heads high team...We are a vastly improved team over last season..because we ALL know we can play better ball than that...Our guys had a ton of opportunities...
we need our identity..and most important we need to establish a "Go to guy" some sort of pecking order..It seems after Eric Gordon missed a shot, he was ignored on offense..but I felt he was effective offensively ..man, did he get to the line in impressive fashion a couple of times tonight... so he gets my vote for the go to guy..
At the end of the game..who should take the shots in the 4th quarter for this team?
Oh, and Baron...please take the time off to recover that foot...Or i'm gonna be up on Jason Powell next...

BD needs to toughen up and play through this injury…..he missed too many games last year and needs to be a leader. If we are to make the playoffs he cant miss 30 games for various injuries

I agree
This game showed to me that they can play with anybody even with some bad games from key players due to the added depth. Baron will get better and I think the play of Telfair will push him even more.
The main problem is the lack of a go to guy in the 4th quarter. I think EJ could be and SHOULD be that guy. He looks very confident and is fearless attacking the rim.
I felt is was a respectable showing for our Clips and I am looking forward to a playoff season.

Nice to look on the bright side
but they beat us without Gasol. Our big advantage was in our 2nd unit and how big an advantage would that have been with Odom out there neutralizing Smith?

well maybe Griffin's presence would have neutralized Gasols'

Take it easy, pardner.
He didn’t mean it as a shot. He’s being realistic. Everyone knows that teams coming off the championship celebration tend to do poorly on ring night. It’s just the way it is. They were able to control the game even without Pau Gasol, which meant not having LO coming in with the 2nd unit which lessened it’s effectivness. All that and they still won pretty handily, despite how close the score was. The Clips aren’t at the Laker’s level just yet.
I do however like what they’ve done with the Clippers bench. Bassy, Smith, Rasual and Camby (once Griff comes back) is a solid bench and will go a long way toward bringing the Clips to an annual playoff-caliber team.
P.S. Are you REALLY debating that Blake is in any way going to neutralize Pau Gasol? Already? This early?

Tex Winter
Looked to be in good health, pretty amazing for a 87 year old coming back from a stroke. Could easily pass as 65.

I figure how worst gan it get?
Yes, Staples Center is our Home to but not when we face the Lakers at their home and we went there on the Biggest night of the season for them on Two counts,
1: Ring Night for 2008-9 season champs
2: Home opener 2009-10 Season
and I think we took it to them pretty well, yes we did not get the win and Morel victory’s are meaningless but we have 81 more games left in Regular season and if we could handle it yesterday with all the Hype and all the media exited about Blakes injury like they are glad he is hurt.
Just think how this experience helps our young guys cope now, they will be ready and we served the NBA notice.
The Clippers have arrived in 2009-10 and watch out!

Marcus is a smart man and so are you
to snackbar, haha. Marcus is the real leader on this team. He speaks the truth. He understands what last night’s game meant to the Lakers and the NBA. He understands that the Clippers could compete, but they weren’t going to win. If you look at the game, there were 3-4 different plays that could have put the Clippers in the lead or tied, but the refs blow the whistles.
As far as a “go to guy”, EJ is no doubt our go to guy. He is so smoove with the ball and this year he can get to the rim. He should lead thisteam in shot attempts and should have the ball in his hands the majority of the time.

If all clippers are 100% including with griffin, baron healed, camby healed. We will be looking good. Also it looked like on some plays for defense they were lost by the triangle leaving bynum open a lot. As well as offense there was some miscommunications running pick and rolls. We need to be 110% to take it to the playoffs!
