Hmmm

The Clippers can send Madsen and Ricky for 5.3 million and kick in the trade exemption for the remainder. The contract is not pretty, but may not be a bad pick up.

of course with Blake sidelined and the AT play, It looks better than it did a month ago.

A gross

144 Stephen Jacksons?

I’d say one is too many.

The kids are alright.

I thought we learned our lesson about picking up trash players

might as well kept Randolph. Jackson is the same player in a smaller form. Brings nothing but bad attitude and points. We could argue Zack had a better attitude than Jackson. At least he was happy here.

is he better than Ricky?

by sqrebck on Oct 28, 2009 3:34 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Come on

everyone is better than Ricky. At least Ricky gets stoned and doesn’t cause too much trouble lol.

FO just freaking out, if this rumor is legitimate. This is not the right direct.

And if we pick him up, kiss 2010 FA goodbye.

Who do you really think we can pick up? Money talks and we are short on $$. At the end of the day AT and Rasual are not long term options in my opinion.

by sqrebck on Oct 28, 2009 4:27 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

This is not the right direction for the team

He´s 31, past his prime, and has baggage. It wouldn’t even serve as a ’ win-now’ move, it would be more like a ’ won-yesterday’ acquisition.

by edu_argentina on Oct 28, 2009 3:38 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Stats don’t lie, we need a viable 3.

His per-game season averages were 20.7 points, 5.1 rebounds, 6.5 assists (2nd only to LeBron James for forwards), 1.5 steals, and 39.6 minutes (2nd in the league, trailing only Joe Johnson of the Atlanta Hawks) .

If this happens it will be part of a multi team deal and Jackson would never be on our team,

curious to see who we unload and who we end up with?

Prime choices?

Dun is going after Lebron

This rumor is obviously BS.

No way they spend their cap space on freaking Jax. Total non-Dunleavy kind of guy.

by madglove on Oct 28, 2009 4:38 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

You can look for a way to participate that is a net drop in salary

Even unloading Kaman and ending up with Jackson gets you into max contract range if thats all you take on.

Kaman to team X
Team X sends expirings to GSW and a pick to LAC
Jackson + expirings (Claxton?) + a pick from GSW to LAC

All picks should be 2011 or later and you save 3M for next year. It also gives you the option to severe ties with AT saving you more. I’m not looking to do that, but if you can pick up Lebron and have Jackson as the backup, don’t you seriously have to consider that?

I wouldn’t do this, but if you are looking for a basis in rumor it would seem to be something like that.

by John R on Oct 28, 2009 4:59 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Sure it can be done mathematically

But I highly doubt the Clips are trading their starting center for Jax. Why would Dun want to trade for a guy who would likely make him look bad as a coach? Can’t see that happening at all. That’s not even taking into account his salary.

Unless of course you’re talking about that pick from GSW being unprotected (which would just be insane on their part). That obviously changes things.

I highly doubt GSW is so desperate to trade Jax that they’re willing to take back only expiring contracts AND give up an unprotected pick.

This rumor has no legs.

by madglove on Oct 28, 2009 5:04 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

They reportedly want Z from Cleveland

Which is just an expiring contract. That’s the basis for that part.

As for Kaman, if you think of the trade as Kaman’s contract being gone allowing you to get Lebron and therefore the trade is Kaman for Lebron, do any of the other particular’s matter?

I don’t think the picks need to be unprotected, but having three picks in 2011 at any position would be nice. There’s going to be a lot of roster spots to fill in any scenario that nets Lebron.

As for the CMDSr scenario, to me it seems likely that Dunleavy would consider it on the table to turn over the coaching reigns (to say, Lucas) if it helped net Lebron. He goes upstairs with the perfect out and completely triumphant.

I mean you don’t have to KEEP Jackson. NO contract is untradeable.

by John R on Oct 28, 2009 5:21 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

I understand what you're saying

But they reportedly want Z for Jax. Not Z for Jax and a first round pick. That’s a big difference (despite your personal belief that 1st rounders aren’t important).

And targeting Lebron is different than putting all your eggs in that basket and trading your starting center. DJ definitely hasn’t proven that he’s ready to play big minutes and Camby is very possibly playing his last year as a Clipper. It will take much more than the hope of signing Lebron for a calculating guy like Dunleavy to pull that trigger. So yea, if you’re trading Kaman for Lebron, no the particulars don’t matter. If you’re trading Kaman to be 1 of like 5 teams with a crack at Lebron…yes the particulars matter quite a bit.

And the idea that Dun will turn over the coaching reigns is simply fan hope. He’s never once indicated such a desire and I highly doubt a control freak like Dun gives up anything. The guy wants more power, not less. ESPECIALLY if he thinks he can get a Lebron, you don’t give up the coaching reigns. You keep them so you can “coach” Lebron and ride his coattails.

Told ya the report was BS

Now the latest is that the Clips haven’t had any substantive conversations with GSW re: Jax.

by madglove on Oct 29, 2009 9:38 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Funny, Cleveland apparently wants him

but he’s not good enough for a team that won 19 games last year. Not that I personally think the Clips should sign him.

by Jax on Oct 30, 2009 9:49 AM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Cleveland probably thinks

Lebron and the chance at a championship can calm him down. The move also makes more sense seeing as the Cavs need another consistent scorer so Lebron doesn’t have to score 38 and still lose.

In Gordon we trust
