Trade for Stephen Jackson??????

ESPN is reporting that the LA Clippers are one of the particulars in the Stephen Jackson sweep stakes.  Here is the story / link..

Not sure who we would include in a trade for Stephen Jackson.  I personally think he's a little too crazy for our young nucleus.  Between the demanding of trades, publicly yelling at Nelly about his decision to keep him in the game, or denying the role of team captain... all of this in a matter of 30 days!  I'd rather keep our roster.

 Thoughts?

I don't

know why Stephen Jackson would want to go from a non contending warriors to a non contending clippers. It’d be like the exact same situation.

Baron for Sjax LOL

Clippers are definitely...

…. better off than Golden State.

by Akram47 on Oct 28, 2009 3:30 PM PDT reply actions

and

yet here we are GSW (0-1) and LAC (0-2)… face it equally sucky.

No thanks...

I see no reason for us to trade for him.. If we need anything, it’s another PG

'Cause how you play, is how you'll be remembered. PLAY LOUD!

Not really a "sweepstakes" if there's no prize.

If we’re taking ourselves out of the market for LBJ, then I would much rather it be for Tayshaun Prince or Shane Battier. Prince is an LA native, and will defend rather than look for his shot. Bringing in SJax, while a talented player, will mean even less touches for EJ. Not to be a dead horse, but Jackson comes with considerable baggage, and I like the positive energy Blake has brought to the team. And somehow, I don’t see MDSr. and SJax getting along.

The baggage statement might be a little over stated. I have not heard of a player or coach that doesn’t like the guy.

by sqrebck on Oct 28, 2009 4:23 PM PDT up reply actions

Somehow, I don’t think Don Nelson is a fan.

by Gordon for President on Oct 28, 2009 4:41 PM PDT up reply actions

FYI We are not in the LBJ market.

We maybe have 15 million to spend about 6 million shy of LBJ cash

by Akram47 on Oct 28, 2009 4:19 PM PDT reply actions

I don’t see LeBron leaving without a sign and trade with the Cavs.

by sqrebck on Oct 28, 2009 4:24 PM PDT up reply actions

Dumping either Kaman or Baron midseaon, either which is a real possibility, would more than put us in the hunt for a mega-star. Taking on SJax negates even the possibility.

by Gordon for President on Oct 28, 2009 4:43 PM PDT up reply actions

Honestly I don’t see us dumping Baron…

I personally DON’T want to see Baron leave anyway.

Clippers 09-10. Prepare for a revolution.

Not at all.

I’m not saying LBJ coming over is a lock, or even going to happen. But I’d rather leave the window open than shut it completely. No one thought Joe Johnson would willingly go to the Hawks, but he did, and that franchise is turning around. Shaq left ORL to come to LA, I think with the money, location, and talent that we have, there’s a shot it happens.

I also strongly believe Shaq going to CLE will back fire. If the Cavs take a major step backward, entirely possible considering how strong BOS and ORL are, it might not be unforseeable.

And why do people keep saying Sterling is cheap? He’s been spending pretty heavily for a few years now, and you’d have to think he wouldn’t cheap it to make the Clippers better than the Lakers.

by Gordon for President on Oct 29, 2009 11:44 AM PDT up reply actions

i think....

anyone will be willing to go over the cap into luxury to have LeBron—- even Donald T. Sterling!

by ChrisS.Oaks on Oct 29, 2009 12:01 AM PDT up reply actions

It all depends where the salary cap ends up.

A max deal for LeBron is either 30% of the Salary Cap or 105% of his previous salary (whichever is greater). We’d have to clear up cap space any way we look at it, but we benefit with a higher salary cap. The difference between the projected cap of 53.6M and this year’s salary cap of 57.7M would be a little over 740K in terms of his maximum salary.

I personally don’t see any of the major FAs moving. The team will have to think about retaining guys like Smith, Butler and Camby.

LeBron

I don’t see him leaving without a sign and trade. Superstars get traded when they want and usually the team they want.

by sqrebck on Oct 29, 2009 1:12 PM PDT up reply actions

He'd be crazy not to.

An extra year plus 10.5% raises compared to just 8% is a difference of about 32.26M.

by Lawler 4ever on Oct 30, 2009 12:57 AM PDT up reply actions

exactly

Everybody is going crazy about the summer of “LeBron Lock Box”. If Lebron want’s to come to LA, NY or NJ he will be there.

by sqrebck on Nov 2, 2009 10:37 AM PST up reply actions

YES!

I think Cap Jax is better than AT or Rasual. And Baron has chemistry with him.

I think we give away either AL OR Rasual (Not Both) and Ricky Davis for Jax and that would be a deal.

But if it never happens I’m fine with what we got now.

by moKi on Oct 28, 2009 6:06 PM PDT reply actions

They'd never do that...

I’ve heard they want either young talent or draft picks for the artist formerly known as Captain Jack.

That would mean maybe Thornton and DJ or a future 1st….IMO that is way too high for an overpriced black hole with declining skills

by Dow Jones on Oct 29, 2009 2:52 AM PDT up reply actions

No Interest

Not only do we not need a bad apple like Jack, we don’t want him sucking up our cap space.

stephen jackson would not be a crucial player in the clippers lineup in my opinion. plus he has an attitude problem
