"Blake Superior" Expands...
I'm sure this is going to tick off all the angry folks against the nickname, but Steve, it looks like your efforts are working. Obviously yesterday's headline on Yahoo Sports was just great, but other blogs and sites are starting to pick up on it too.
Check out the latest entry from Basketbawful.com:
Back in more innocent times, Brian Skinner, Darius Miles and Lamar Odom were supposed to lead the Los Angeles Clippers to a new and greater destiny. They believed, man. They believed in themselves, their team, and you, the basketball fan. And probably the Legend of Chupacabra...which, as it turns out, is much easier to believe in than the Clippers. Clippers fans should consider that as they begin the "Blake Superior" era.
Awesome. Clearly people are liking the nickname (despite those on here who claim it doesn't have a ring to it).
Btw, after this catches on completely and the TNT crew starts using it, remember who pushed you to promote the nickname!

Can't wait to see players drown in Blake Superior! ;)
'Cause how you play, is how you'll be remembered. PLAY LOUD!
Sorry, I just do not like it.
Blake Superior is just to Lakers up for me.
Sure a Clipper ship travels on a Lake but we should try to distance ourselves from the Lakers as much as possible.
This nickname is like Salt in the wound to us.
Everything starts out New, Gets Old and Dies or is Destroyed.
You mean, like Salt Blake City?

I sure hope Blake likes the name...
…If I was Blake I would be so mad at Steve right now…
hahahahh
Blah...
It’s shocking such a non-catchy nickname is catching on….it’s so long…it takes too much explanation to make the nickname make sense. The greatest nicknames of the decade: AK-47, Air Canada.
This is going to be my team, and we're going to rise together.

Yah
I like the small but powerful nicknames. EJ, BD, KG, Lebron “KING”, Kobe “Closer”, Chris Paul “CP3”, Deron Williams “D-Will”, Dwyane Wade “D-Wade”, Ray Allen “Ray Ray”, Paul Pierce “The Truth”, etc…
I like Blake Griffin “The Destroyer” or “Big G”
Is anyone with me on these nicknames?
I'm kinda likin
Big G!
Would Eric then be Lil’ G?
let's just wait til Shaq comes up with an official nickname for him!
