Friends, Clipper faithful, we are being tested these days. It's easy to be an optimist when things are looking promising. But the truest Club members are those who feel the sunshine just as it starts raining cats and dogs.
I'm trying hard to see the light. My sense of realism keeps interfering, though, and it seems I'm only capable of so much: Optimistically, I expect that EJ will make it back after 7 games, and that we'll actually win a couple while he's away. Is that too much to believe in? I should hope not, and I challenge you to join me in this bit of fancy for at least the next minute or two.
In order to win without EJ, somebody is going to have step up his game. Somebody besides Kaman, that is, and besides Baron, too. Those two will have to be involved in any victory, but as they really can't do it alone, somebody else will have to get hot. I say, if Andres Nocioni can score 16 for the Kings, and if Devin Brown can sink 5 of 8 threes, then surely one of our role players can rise up for an evening. But who will it be? I ask you, Clipper Optimists, in whom does your faith reside?
