At What Point Does Firing Dunleavy Become a Serious Issue?
We all joke about firing MDsr (and Jasen Powell...or the entire medical staff for that matter), but at what point does it become a serious discussion. I know to many that it already is and they probably feel that he should have been fired long ago. How much slack can he be given? Come All-Star break what should our team record be for him to stay on board as the coach?
As for the GM duties, I really like the team that has been assembled so personally I would hope of him staying as GM if he cannot pull through with coaching duties.
If in fact the team does keep doing poorly and we all agree he should step down. How do we keep MDsr and fire Dunleavy?! Does anyone have any creative solutions where this would be a possibility?

The guy's not getting fired.
If he didn’t get fired after that debacle of a 19 win season, he won’t get fired period.
It’s clear that DTS cares only about not having to pay Dun for sitting on his butt. Plus, Sterling is getting a 2 for 1 bargain with Dun. Instead of paying a coach $5 mil and a GM $500k (which is easily the lowest in the league), he gets both at $5 mil! What a deal!
The only team who made a worse decision to keep its coach from last season is Golden State. Every other really bad team made changes.
Wouldn't that be more incentive
to relieve him of his coaching duties? He is getting paid 1 salary for 2 jobs right? Is Sterling really that cheap? He showed his displeasure in the locker room last season, so he must want to win. He can’t think MD is the right coach after all this time. Move him to GM and promote Hughes or Lucas for the time being. Doing so wouldn’t even warrant them a pay increase….? Or would it? Even so, not nearly as much as what a new hiring would cost.
Might as well see what someone else can do.

they're making a petition over at the golden state blog
it probably won’t work, but they’re trying.

Ha, it won't be long 'til we do the same
But I won’t sign it… not yet. I want to give Dun at least a few months with a full roster. Maybe it’s foolish, but he’s got to feel that he has something to prove… and it’s probably best to maintain continuity with the young guys. I still think they can pull things together.
i'd sign it
the way i see it, teams with a lot less talent are doing a lot better than we are. and it feels like deja vu they way our team has talent but always underachieves. i think the dun just got lucky one season, and uses that to justify all the other losing seasons.

Gotta love the irony
A bunch of FANS putting together a petition asking to be heard by a team that has CLEARLY demonstrated that it cares nothing for its fans.
That’d be like ethnic minorities sending Donald Sterling a petition to allow them to rent rooms from him.
I'm not sure why everyone singles out Dunleavy
shouldn’t the mob be out in front yelling “Fire Sterling”! or “Move to Anaheim”?
just my 2 cents
"Fire Sterling"?
How the heck do you “fire” an owner? Are you serious?
And why would Clippers fans angry with a team’s performance want the team to move? What would that solve?
I think it’s pretty obvious why they’re singling out Dunleavy. Because we can’t get rid of the owner (as much as we’d love to) and moving is completely irrelevant.
moving to anaheim
with same team, same coach, same everything does not change anything… maybe just your commute

u know what i meant, dont take things so literally.
After all, it is Dunleavy who got Tight wad DTS to open up his pockets on these players. If you fire Dunleavy, can Avery Johnson convince DTS to spend? I seriously doubt it, since are beloved owner thinks so highly of minorities.
the way i see it, our talent is sitting on the bench in street clothes. It is very similar to last year. If we had Kaman last year, would we have won more than 19 games? I like to think so. Firing the coach at this point does nothing.
What type of message does it send to Blake Griffin sitting there in street clothes when we have a bunch of morons screaming “fire Dunleavy” throughout the game.
The coaching staff has a great scheme with EJ and Kaman. We were starting to see results, then we have the groin pull. When those 2 come back though, we will put more Ws on the board. Have some patience guys! We werent going to win the Finals this year, but if we do happent to be back in the lottery. This team will be amazing soon enuff.
Dunleavy the GM can convince DTS to spend
Lucas wants to be coach again (see FanShots), and I’m sure Dun could see that coming. The fact that he brought Lucas on in the first place shows that he’s willing to give up some control. I bet he’s at least considering giving Lucas the job in the next two years. If Lucas is willing to wait around, that is. Interesting to think what will happen if Lucas threatens to move on at season’s end.
At the top of this thread, Madglove points out that DTS is getting two employees for the price of one in Dunleavy. It’s the bottom line that DTS cares about, though, and once our young guys start posting up numbers and generating popular interest, then the business equation really changes. To have a dynamic new coach whom fans are already familiar with… That’s bound to translate to still more interest, and more ticket sales. DTS will be willing to make the investment if the payoff is clear.
GM Dunleavy and Coach Lucas would be pretty sweet. I wouldn’t want to coach the Clips UNLESS Dun were there to keep prying on DTS’s wallet.
After 20 Games
Can’t even beat the Thunder @ home? WTF? So sick of this offense. 10 points in the 4th? Please let Lucas take over. Wish we had Diantoni right about now
JM
Dunleavy is lifetime loser
Please please fire Dunceleavy now!!! The guy couldn’t win when he was coaching in Portland with some of the greatest names in the game Scottie Pippen, Sabonis, Detlef, Steve Smith, Rasheed Wallace, Jermaine Oneill, D Stoudemire, Shawn Kemp. How is he going to win with this group!? The Blazers were a loaded team during the Dunleavy years. WTF happened?!?! You can bring Lebron and D.Wade in next year and we would still lose! Fans are tired of MDSR. Bring on Lucas, Avery Johnson, Hubie Brown, hell, give Sam Cassell a shot!!!

Sam Cassell.................................I like it.
Everything starts out New, Gets Old and Dies or is Destroyed.
Yup...
Dumbo is incredibly bad at coaching. I mean, I have had season tickets the last two years and I have probably only seen about 20 home wins in that time….I watch a team that has no conditioning, pays more attention to clipper spirit squad then the coach and gives up in the second half. I watch a coach that does nothing to inspire, game plan or adjust to the tempo and climate of the game. I see poor utilization of talent, terrible play calling in clutch situations and the encouragement towards a culture of losing because he himself is a gigantic loser.
