He's in a weird value place right now

Based on current performance he’s probably overrated and overpaid. But there is every reason to expect that he can return to be paid just right, or even better.

Except he might not. Tough to say if some team will be buying high or low at this point.

At any rate, SG isn’t supposed to be one of the Clippers’ problems.

another guard who thrives in the fastbreak coming over to play for dunleavy?

say that trade does go through, and ellis comes over here.
baron’s going to go back to gsw and play well, because he’s doing what he does best, while ellis is not going to not live up to his hype because he’s not playing the way that suits him best.

it’ll basically be the same scenario we have with baron. trying to get him to live up to his gsw days.

I disagree

I think Monta is a better player than Baron. Both have injury issues, but Monta is younger, quicker, has a deadly mid range shot, and also takes it to the rim. The Clippers have been missing a slasher. I think Ellis has more upside than Davis does and is younger, so he will be around for while.

don't get me wrong

i’m a big ellis fan. i just think this is the wrong system for him. he’s perfect for the run and gun.

He'd be ok in the half court too...

He has a fast first step and quickness to disrupt defenses even when set. He can also shoot. He’s a natural SG though, about as much of a PG as EJ is…

I just feel

that he might be more of an offensive threat then Baron is. also hes more consistent.

Kawakami

“It’s the Warriors. The only ones who stay are the fools, the corrupt and those with no other choice.” Wow. That’s just plain mean.

I'm not against it in a vacuum as a trade

But what of EJ? That’s two 2’s. Seems like someone ends up butthurt before long.

Also, needs more expirings. RDavis probably has to go and maybe even the ghost of Mark Madsen.

Nevermind, I solved that problem, this will be fun

Outgoing – Gordon, Thornton, Butler, RDavis, Collins, Telfair, S&T Madsen (550k) + $3M cash
Incoming – Ellis, Maggette

New trade
Outgoing – Randolph trade exemption
Incoming – Azubuike

Warriors pre-waive Bell, Claxton, George, and Moore.

The Clippers become the 06-07 Warriors backcourt and the 05-06 Clippers front court with Blake Griffin starring as Elton Brand. Camby remains as a trade chip.

The Warriors get the prospect in Gordon (and Thornton but we won’t tell them about him) and more cap space than you can shake a stick at.

I win the thread.

No thank you.

I wouldn’t trade a more talented young prospect on a rookie deal for a potentially overpaid malcontent. Besides Azubuike is out for the season.

I know

Its for salary/roster slot purposes.

hes super quick and has money midrange and puts up about 5-6 assist and 5 rebounds and if hes happy, 23-25 points

by GSWBALL on Nov 17, 2009 3:45 PM PST reply actions

plus he got madd hops for a small guy

07-08 he led the nba in dunks for guys 6-3 and under…random fact lol

Monta is a great young player whom

we could possibly get for an expiring. Camby? I haven’t checked the contracts, but as I said in another thread about this topic, getting him would potentially free us up to move BD and his horrible contract. Of course, he’d still have to play in an offensive scheme that would be shall we say somewhat constraining on his talents.

And he’s not just a SG. He’s a good young PG. Having said that, he’s not the tallest baller out there.

Taking advantage of the Warriors unfortunate situation.

I'm on board

Moving Camby for Monta would be a net win.

I think we’ll find it difficult to move Baron. His highest value might be this year at the trade deadline, because if age forces his skills down in coming seasons, that contract will keep looking horrible until its last year when it’s an “expiring.”
