"Winnable Game"...I vow not use these words anymore, how about you?

After tonight, I vow not to utter those words for the remainder of the season.  In Clipper Nation, it seems this word only serves to torture us.  We say these words, then get our hopes up, only to have them smashed by a team missing their superstar anchor.

Is it a jinx along the likes of SP reverse mojo or is a factor of the bball gods toying with our emotions? Whenever we think the Clippers will lose, they win, when we think they will win, they lose.

*on a side note about the game*

With a Hornets team over the foul limit at the 8 minute mark,  why were the Clippers settling for jumpers?  Why not attack the rim and keep drawing fouls.

If the Clippers had converted on all those Hornet turnovers in the last quarter, they would have been in it.

Al Thornton, let's not let the loss sour on how good he has looked lately.  Thanks Al for being the lone hustler tonight.

Whether you use the words or not...

the fact remains. You can try to convince yourself that the Hornets without Chris Paul are a really tough opponent… but it’s a lie.

I couldn't watch the game...

…so I’m looking forward to your write-up, SP. In the meantime, would anyone else care to explain what our shortcomings were tonight? I’m mostly interested in the players. The game stats suggest that Kaman’s game was sub-par, that Baron had trouble guarding Collison, and that West really stepped up. AT went 12-17, but with 5 turnovers… How’d he really look?

I can’t analyze AT’s 5 turnovers as I don’t remember, and really, I’m not qualified for that. But we did settle for jumpers which led to our 12 FT deficit. And we went under screens letting average starters hit the go-ahead 3.

That sounds plausible

Newtybar also says we weren’t driving the ball. We really do need better movement, even in a half-court set. I can’t wait to get our youngsters back.

Al's TOs

A couple offensive fouls at least…. but not out of control, just fighting for position, Peja sold the ref, that kind of thing. It wasn’t a ‘bad’ 5 TOs, if that makes sense.

The funniest one was when Posey knocked him down, just as Butler threw him a pass. All caught the pass, lying on his back – across the out of bounds line. No whistle, turnover. One of many ugly, pathetic things in this game.

Al played great

goats of the game were Baron and Kaman.

And for all the “get Novak minutes” crowd, he didn’t exactly get it done either, missing wide open looks.

Every game for the Clippers is winnable, theoretically.

Unfortunately, every game can go the other way too. Like, you know, all of them.

I've got nothing.

I told you so would hurt right about now

The Clipps need a fresh face need something to create a positive stir.

If you're one of the worst team in the league...

are any games winnable games? And if you’re at the bottom of the barrel, overlooking any opponent is ludicrous.

Not true

we’re not the worse team in the league. New Jersey or Memphis is.

Problem is, we have a very likeable team on paper. We were facing a team without Chris Paul- not to mention the Hornets have not gotten a win with their new GM- er.. i meant coach. This game should have been a blown out. Disaster. Remember that Onion videos on the Staples Center? Should’ve happened over at New Orlean Arenas were their fans were begging for the game to end. I was watching the game on ESPN’s Gamecast over at school and found myself surprised that the Clippers were down by double digits.
