Kaman might be as close to ambidextrous as we've got in this league. It's more normal for smaller guys to be good with both hands. For big guys, it's rare.
Dirk Nowitzk on Chris Kaman
For what it's worth, Marc Stein calls Kaman the most ambidextrous player in the NBA. His other candidate was Steve Nash, so Stein checked with Dirk Nowitzki who has played with both of them. Dirk gave the nod to Kaman. Kaman is definitely unique - he shoots free throws and jump shots right handed, but while he can use either around the basket, he clearly prefers to use his left in close.

great find steve!
Well, it certainly is a pleasure getting complimented from a future hall of famer to a player who’s on a team who seem the be the laughingstock of the entire sports world. Chris kaman may not the the flashiest nor the most quickest but he has the ability to shoot inside the 3 point line or near the block……hook shot either left or right…. i always thought i had talent with both hands but man…….kaveman is DA man. (yes i know, i spelled cavemen with a k). i mentioned his ambidextrous talent this last game they played detroit. I gotta admit…….things are looking up………kaman, baron and thornton are back….gordon will b just fine……..telfair, smith, jordan, the others…. the bench has played extremely well too….and then were still missing griffin……..We’ve been playing good recently….. i see a bright season for us…..maybe not the playoffs but i smell something close to it….a really good record the team can b proud of…..but if u ask anyone who watch the clips, if we dont make the playoffs with the team we have now, our season would b forgotten just like the others………We play grizzlies today so let’s try to get our first win coming back home and set the tone. :-) Clippers Baby!!!! For Life!!!!!!
P.S. As badly as i wanna win a championship, lets b realistic for a second….and say playoffs are our next step and then we’ll go from there. :) I WANNA MAKE THE PLAYOFFS SO BAD!!!!!!
