Evening peeps - slow on the site tonight.....

As Ralph said, nice to have EJ back. Team is so much better balanced even after the slow start.

Grizzlies aren’t bad (well the starting 5 aren’t bad) though so gonna be close I think

Bingo! Oh me oh my!

by ClippersUK on Nov 29, 2009 1:00 PM PST reply actions

EJ looking good again after

a couple of really rusty games. Barons shooting improvement continues also which is nice.

Bingo! Oh me oh my!

by ClippersUK on Nov 29, 2009 1:04 PM PST reply actions

Memphis scoring at will

The plan on D isn’t working. Or they’re not executing.

by RockyMountain on Nov 29, 2009 1:13 PM PST reply actions

Where's the defense?

The team wins just enough for Dumb loony to keep his job!

by saxmanager on Nov 29, 2009 1:28 PM PST reply actions

Baron is having an excellent game but unless he

creates something, not much else is happening on offence.

Gasol and tinsley are killing us at our end though. Memphis look excellent on offence.

Bingo! Oh me oh my!

by ClippersUK on Nov 29, 2009 1:31 PM PST reply actions

Did you guys hear Mike Penner died?

Transsexual sportswriter, and he used to be married to Lisa Dillman. Crazy stuff.

I've got nothing.

yeah

let’s get single digit

by edu_argentina on Nov 29, 2009 1:33 PM PST reply actions

judging from recent history

i dont see the clippers having much a run this game….

by whyamiaclippersfan on Nov 29, 2009 1:42 PM PST reply actions

How flat are the majority of our team

Time for a Dunny motivational speech.

Just watched plays of the week and seen Tinsley dribble between Nash’s legs and hit the shot. Awesome.

Bingo! Oh me oh my!

by ClippersUK on Nov 29, 2009 1:42 PM PST reply actions

I'm sure

this team will play inspired defense after such a speech

by edu_argentina on Nov 29, 2009 1:46 PM PST up reply actions

The Grizzlies have a good young team...

…but what will happen when the Spurs come into town?

by saxmanager on Nov 29, 2009 1:44 PM PST reply actions

I wish I was watching the Clippers vs. the Grizzlies...

…but apparently I’m watching Baron Davis and Marcus Camby vs. the Grizzlies. Hopefully the rest of the team will show up for the second half.

by edk3 on Nov 29, 2009 1:46 PM PST reply actions

Some horrific stats so far

Memphis shooting 64.5%
DeAndre is the only Clipper to get to the foul line IN THE WHOLE FIRST HALF!!!!!!

Bingo! Oh me oh my!

by ClippersUK on Nov 29, 2009 1:47 PM PST reply actions

at least

we don’t give away more offensive rebounds haha

by edu_argentina on Nov 29, 2009 1:51 PM PST up reply actions

hi. don’t mean to dig up the past, but just read an article on yahoo about clips’ announcing team having been suspended for a game because of some remarks they made nov. 18 regarding an iranian player on the grizzlies. i am curious as to what it is they said?

by chaucer on Nov 29, 2009 1:49 PM PST reply actions

Camby is immense tonight

19 mins 6/7 for 12 points, 8 rebs, 3 ass, 1 blk

Bingo! Oh me oh my!

by ClippersUK on Nov 29, 2009 1:50 PM PST reply actions

But the team is down by 15 points...

…not a good sign. Camby shouldn’t have to do so much.

by saxmanager on Nov 29, 2009 1:51 PM PST reply actions

i'm not sure

if Blake Griffin can help to change all this laziness on the court

by edu_argentina on Nov 29, 2009 1:56 PM PST reply actions

I hate it when they keep showing....

replays of the Clippers’ baskets, as if they counted again!

by saxmanager on Nov 29, 2009 1:59 PM PST reply actions

blown out by the grizz again....

i guess the gm who was criticized for building this grizz team is actually a genius compared to gm dunleavy

by whyamiaclippersfan on Nov 29, 2009 2:11 PM PST reply actions

fuck this

fuck the game, fuck the clippers, we lost by a fucking blowout already

by Final692 on Nov 29, 2009 2:17 PM PST reply actions

by whyamiaclippersfan on Nov 29, 2009 2:19 PM PST reply actions

lol hell no

That was the worst game I’ve ever seen. We shot like 33 percent that game.

by dulciusEXasperis on Nov 29, 2009 2:24 PM PST up reply actions

we lost shooting 32%

and they beat us shooting 37%…..come on. That’s a terrible game and not even entertaining on any level.

by dulciusEXasperis on Nov 29, 2009 2:28 PM PST up reply actions

I don't.

We were an underdog in that game, with or without Granger. Plus we were on the road.

This home game is just an embarrassment on every level.

I've got nothing.

by bc56274 on Nov 29, 2009 2:24 PM PST up reply actions

Whose future is brighter, Clippers or Memphis?

I would say Memphis. They got a nice young nucleus.

I've got nothing.

by bc56274 on Nov 29, 2009 2:29 PM PST reply actions

Yeah they wont be half bad in a year or two. But I havnt seen Blake play yet.

by Sam50 on Nov 29, 2009 2:31 PM PST up reply actions

Yeah Blake could be huge for us

And they could of been much better if they didn’t get Thabeet. What a piece of trash pick.

by dulciusEXasperis on Nov 29, 2009 2:32 PM PST up reply actions

Yeah in hindsight Jennings would of been the smart pick but who would of known he would turn out to be AI 2

by Sam50 on Nov 29, 2009 2:33 PM PST up reply actions

No just comparing Clippers future to the Grizzlies. I dont think either is to flash.

That’s great and all but he should be grabbing some defensive ones.

by dulciusEXasperis on Nov 29, 2009 2:43 PM PST reply actions

Did I just see the Clippers cut the lead in half?

I guess someone just told Dunleavy that with Lawerence Frank getting fired today, he’s back on the top of the NBA’s “This coach should be fired” list.

just cramping up...

If you think about iut, he hasnet played in 2+ weeks, and then he has a game like tonight were he is running, jumping, and making plays all over the court. He was sure to have cramps, haha. I am glad they dont play next til wednesday :-)

It was certainly the best

quarter from the Clips I’ve ever seen.

Rest of game sucked!!!!

25-2 run to end the game. wow.

by hans007 on Nov 29, 2009 3:08 PM PST reply actions

Nice to be on the other side of a 4th quarter collapse for a change.

Beating Denver might be the higher profile win, but this game was their best victory this season. Keep it up Clippers! Well, except the going down by 20 part haha.

by edk3 on Nov 29, 2009 3:10 PM PST reply actions

22-0 run to end the game...

NBA record? LOL, I dont care if it is, but it just might be, haha.

What a win, and what a performance by the Clippers!

Yah

I was smiling from ear to ear. I really enjoyed watching this game. I thought EJ and Camby were outstanding.

They were

outstanding. Like Mike or Ralph said during the 4th, Camby is everywhere on the D. It seemed like he blocked everything came his way.

"Where amazing happens"

I was so close to turning off the tv but wow I have never ever seen something like that ever. If the clips played like this every game we would be a way better team. All I can say is wow.

by shay on Nov 29, 2009 3:19 PM PST via mobile reply actions

Radio is saying EJ appeared to have a cramp

That’s what it looked like to me, too. But that’s all we have to go on for now, it looks like.

by SilverClip on Nov 29, 2009 3:20 PM PST reply actions

yeah it happens when

you don’t play for a while then all of sudden play heavy minutes

In Gordon we trust

by bestclipfan on Nov 29, 2009 3:20 PM PST up reply actions

Hopefully that's it.

I don’t want to hear laater that it’s more than a cramp or something like that.

by RockyMountain on Nov 29, 2009 3:25 PM PST up reply actions

42 minutes

I admire EJ’s grit but have to question the coaching and trainer. Who lets a guy play 42 minutes after being out for 8 games? Dunleavy should know better. Dumb coaching and short-term thinking.

by Mike Wr on Nov 29, 2009 3:28 PM PST up reply actions

yeppers

happens all the time in the high school and college game. Kids usually play fewer minutes, but when they get in a game that goes into overtime or is extended, cramping usually occurs. In EJ’s case, he hasnt played much more than 30 minutes since his return and tonight he played 40+! Great game, he is no doubt a better player than Mayo :-) I thought I would throw that out there. Eric Gordon 29, 5, and 5. Mayo 8, 0, and 4.

by NBAFAN8 on Nov 29, 2009 3:30 PM PST up reply actions

Right, no doubt.

Way better. He’s also waaay better than Butler, who Dun would have had to use in order to save EJ minutes. I agree that EJ played too long… too bad the alternative is so unattractive.

by SilverClip on Nov 29, 2009 3:32 PM PST up reply actions

I'm waiting too

Each game is a new chance. Butler did get that big block at the end… He’s not useless, except for his shooting.

by SilverClip on Nov 29, 2009 3:36 PM PST up reply actions

That was so weird watching that

It felt like playing a game of NBA 2K10, just defensive stop after defensive stop.

Gotta say Al Thornton was a monster in the 4th Q. He has improved hugely in the last 6/7 games.

Bingo! Oh me oh my!

by ClippersUK on Nov 29, 2009 3:20 PM PST reply actions

Rudy Gay made a shot to start the 4th

and I thought we were done. Then EJ came right back and got a layup. That’s when I decided to not turn off the TV.

by SilverClip on Nov 29, 2009 3:24 PM PST reply actions

I hate this team...

Other times we’d be blown out by the 3rd quarter, I continue to watch to see the lead just go up and up… Today I decide, I’m not wasting anymore time, I decided to play Modern Warfare 2… Midway through a game my phone buzzes with the multitudes of Clipper text alerts… I saw we won… wtf.

by Final692 on Nov 29, 2009 3:29 PM PST reply actions

Dont hate the team...

hate yourself for turning the game off :-)

by NBAFAN8 on Nov 29, 2009 3:31 PM PST up reply actions

hey u never know...

for all we know i could be the curse since i watched every game every quarter up until today this season

by Final692 on Nov 29, 2009 3:36 PM PST up reply actions

it makes u think twice when u watched the entire pacer game… this kinda felt like the pacer game but just with more points on the board

by Final692 on Nov 29, 2009 3:35 PM PST up reply actions

I agree

Except for a few teams, there are mixed results every evening. Even the Bobcats beat the Cavs the other night. Late in the 3rd, they were talking about the Grizz as a real contender. It seems like a loose ball out there in terms of the playoffs.

by SilverClip on Nov 29, 2009 3:40 PM PST up reply actions

We have not seen a run like this since...

The Denver game.

That’s 2 huge turn arounds this season.

We have it in us!

The defense keys the offense.

Amazing defensive performance in the 4th

by 69knicks on Nov 29, 2009 3:38 PM PST up reply actions

It really was quite outstanding.

No team could play D like that for 48 mins but it shows that we can have that intensity and we need to show it more, especially in crunch time.

Bingo! Oh me oh my!

by ClippersUK on Nov 29, 2009 3:40 PM PST up reply actions

We out rebounded them 47-30! Wow!

Also managed to shoot 50%

Bingo! Oh me oh my!

by ClippersUK on Nov 29, 2009 3:38 PM PST reply actions

Wow, I hadn't seen that yet.

And 17 offensive rebounds to their 6. Who are these guys?

by SilverClip on Nov 29, 2009 3:42 PM PST up reply actions

Gordon just caught fire after starting off a little slow, and I hope his injury isn’t anything too serious. Camby looked good throughout. For once the Clippers didn’t let the lead go in the 4th, instead coming from behind to win it. The Clippers ended with a 22-0 run (something along those lines), it was a great game.

Im glad Lawler and Smith cleared the air between them and Haddadi as well.

by shoothoop on Nov 29, 2009 4:17 PM PST reply actions

According to KA

his hamstring tightened up so basically it was a cramp and he should be fine (Although knowing the training staff he probably is gone a week lets hope not)

Maybe it’ll require season ending surgery..

Hey did anybody see me at the game?

I had seats 117 row 4 (VERY CLOSE to the tunnel) wearing a alternative Thornton jersey and girlfriend wearing a red Baron road jersey. We were also busy giving Blake a brand new Dora backpack! Eventually Marcus Camby helped us give it to Blake. LOL

by JackduhSun on Nov 29, 2009 4:42 PM PST reply actions

He smiled, shook his head kinda

shock hands a bit LOL. Blakes a nice guy. Funny. I just hope Camby can make Griffin wear the backpack I gave him…

did they seriously only score 7 points in the fourth quarter?

i just saw the boxscore. how did that happen??
not only that, but we scored 33 in the fourth. usually we only score like 10 or 15

by baron davis' beard on Nov 29, 2009 4:45 PM PST reply actions

yep they seriously did

for one even before we made the run they couldn’t make a shot at all. But once the run started our defense was insane they didn’t score after the 5 minute mark I believe.

In Gordon we trust

by bestclipfan on Nov 29, 2009 4:47 PM PST up reply actions

Man the game was nasty

int he third quarter. I spent most of my time punching holes in 150 ballots for the all star games for Baron, Chris Paul, Al THornton, Blake Griffin, and Marcus Camby. Gordon and Chris wasn’t on te ballots and didnt wanna write in Gordon or Kaman for 150.

But man, this kinda shows that our team is a running offense.

by JackduhSun on Nov 29, 2009 4:49 PM PST up reply actions

Walking the tightrope

A great win, but only made possible by a lackluster 3 quarters. Clips let the Funk get off to a quick start. In the first quarter we saw all of the hallmarks of the low energy defeat: poor passes and unnecessary turnovers, and missed layups. Then Kaman has a hitch in his brain and shot and Gasol looks like an all-time great, and it seems like the Clips are going to disappoint us for the umpteenth time. BDavis playing okay but not getting his points, which leaves Gordon and Camby to carry the load, but the Clips are playing horrible basketball and go down by 20,

How many times have we seen the Clips collapse? Too many to count, and they’re too painful to remember. The Funk’s collapse was truly epic. A 7 point quarter. Completely unable to make the easy plays and passes that were so successful for 36 minutes, with an amazing inability to get the ball to Gasol. Camby made sure that Zbo never got started. Gordon got warm in the 3rd and started putting together a nice line and then all of a sudden the Clippers just started killing them. Very fun to watch.

But still, obviously the victory is nice, and winning 4 out of 5, any way that you can do it, is great. And that loss against the Pacers was completely unnecessary, so they really should have a streak going. But it has been a long time, it seems, since they played a really good first quarter and got into the game from the opening tap. It shows that the team can make plays and even be overwhelming, but we also see how bland and uninspired they can play too. Having Gordon back is going to help, and it will help get other guys going and on the same page. Kaman being outplayed by Gasol and not hitting shots isn’t going to happen every game, but CK has shown that he can put up a really bad line, as he has in 3 of the last 4 games. It was nice to have DJordan back too.

Great win, but it would be better for the Clips to play a nice, steady, semi-dominant game. A home game against the Funk, even with Memphis playing well, should be a boring and routine win. Oh well. The Clips need wins, and this was fun at least.

by citizen zhiv on Nov 29, 2009 5:01 PM PST reply actions

Actually, I don't agree with the "routine win" part.

Give credit to MEM, they really are getting to be a pretty good team (I use team in the literal sense of the word, not saying they’re contenders or anything). They just stomped on the Blazers in Portland, and have won, what 5 of 7 games? I liked the addition of Tinsley, he’s a facilitator which is what that team needs as they’re loaded offensively from at the 2, 3, 4, AND 5. I feel like Tinsley really was given an unfair rap by Larry Bird and the Pacers.

But man, an incredible 4th quarter. I watch every game from the opening tip to the final buzzer, but during the third I was wishing I had DVR’ed the game so I could fast forward. Glad I didn’t. Bring on BG!

"Buckle your seat belts, folks. This one's doing down to the wire." -The inimitable Ralph Lawler.

by Gordon for President on Nov 29, 2009 5:40 PM PST up reply actions

Clearly not Zhiv...

I’m sorry, Zhiv, if that’s really you, did you actually watch this one? If there was a game that might cause optimism in even the darkest Clip-cynic soul, it would be this. This was wonderful, this was pure! So Memphis isn’t that good, so what? With five minutes to play the Clips were down by TEN! And suddenly they woke up! Like Frankenstein, back from the dead! They WOKE UP! He’s alive, Doctor Zhiv! ALIVE! They came back like they haven’t done since I don’t know when! They weren’t up by twenty and then squeaked it out, they were DOWN BY TWENTY and overcame their own weird lethargy! It was great! It was AWESOME! It was the kind of game that turns stuff around! Baron was good! Marcus Camby was awesome! Eric Gordon was awesomer! Oh, Zhiv, where are you?! Come back, Zhiv, come back!

by swamigusto on Nov 29, 2009 7:18 PM PST up reply actions

LOL

and +1. According to Bystander’s account, we were down by 10 with just over FOUR minutes to go. It was all so furious, I forgot about how tight the time was. I remember feeling that we had them for sure, and hell, we were still down by five! Talk about an awesome turn in momentum.
