Where's Novak

Steve Novak appears to be deep in the MDSR Doghouse. He didn't even dress last night. I know Novak is a defensive liability, but he isn't that bad and could certainly cover a weaker offensive player on the opposing team.

Novak is a great guy to bring off the bench to spread the floor and knock down threes. With Kaman attracting more double teams, he should receive some open looks. I would love to see him in during some of our scoring droughts. I think if he was given 10-15 minutes a game he could provide some decent production.

Esp against the TWolves

At various times, there were 3 or 4 Twolves who couldn’t shoot. I’m not for so many minutes, but on those occasions when Novak’s defensive liability doesn’t amount to much, why the hell not?

re: Novak not dressing

I didn’t notice him behind the bench in a suit (like BSkinnz) so I’m wondering if he was unavailable for a personal reason. It’s not like Collins played on Monday so it doesn’t seem like he was listed as a reserve for some sort of strategic reason.

when I saw Collins dressed

and Ricky dressed…I immediately looked for Novak.

I only saw Griffin and Skinner in suits….no sign of Novak, so you might be on to something.

Novak is the best shooter in the league

When Blake comes back & Kaman continues to kick butt, they both will get double teamed. Putting Novak at the 3 will drive opposing teams nuts on defense.

I watched Novak warm up before the Pheonix game, he hit 90% of his shots, the dude is unreal!!!!

I would rather see Novak at SF then Butler.

Looking at the roster,

there has to be 3 guys in a suit.

Without question they should be Skinner, R.Davis, Collins
in that order.

as of right now, we can afford to replace R.Davis with Novak…JUST IN CASE R.Davis can finally be the Ricky Get Buckets Davis that we were suppose to have signed. We can afford this because of signing of Kareem Rush. Yes he is not as good a shooter as Novak (who is for that matter?), but he is still a good shooter and can play the SG and has better D…all characteristics that Novak does not have, but we need.

Depending on R.Davis, if he [Ricky] is not a regular part of the suit squad…either shooter will find themselves there instead. But most likely Novak because of the front court depth vs. backcourt lack of depth issue.

Starting 3 spot

It has been discussed numerous times that we need a balanced starting line-up. Novak doesn’t need the ball to be effective as teams will always respect where he is. Should his man double team the post (Kaman) then they do so at their own peril.

At least Dunleavy is looking for alternatives at the 3 spot. AT gave nothing, Butler gave nothing (only 1 game though) so if this issue persists it may be time to see what else we have.

But it’s hard to be making any drastic changes after 5 games and our 1st win.

Time will tell…….yes it will.
