Whoa
Instead, all the principals ran around behind the scenes, making plans in case Dunleavy was fired, until they upset Denver.
That is a huge statement. I’m a little unclear if the article is based in fact or if Heisler is just making educated guesses. If that’s true though, then I need to give a shout to Citizen Eastie Rich who said that winning the game got Dunleavy off the hot seat (which I didn’t agree with.) This statement essentially says the same thing. What an odd way of running an organization.
Questionable
I ask again, who are these “principals” or “executives” that Heisler and Simers refer to? It’s well known that Dunleavy answers to virtually nobody besides Sterling (and even that’s questionable). Roeser is the only “executive” possibly higher in the org. So unless they’re talking about Roeser (which I kind of doubt) I have to call BS on reports like this.
For other teams, with larger Basketball Ops departments, it’s more valid to talk about “Team Execs” and things like that. But on the Clips, it’s Neil Olshey and Dunleavy. And Olshey is Dun’s henchman.
Seems questionable at best.
You may be right but Heisler is respected around these parts
It would, as you said, have to have been Roeser and DTS himself.
Seriously, DTS is a guy who would engage fans sitting courtside in serious conversations about whether he should allow MDSr to sign his son and his specific reasons for not allowing that to happen. So really anything’s possible with these guys.
Having said that, I’ve called bs on Heisler pieces before.
