CLIPPERS: Kaman Named NBA Western Conference Player of the Week
Quite an honor for the big guy. His numbers are undeniable and at least the NBA noticed.

Keep it up, Big Man!
Throw it down, Kaman. 23 ppg is a fairly gaudy number, but Kaman can keep it going. KA mentioned in his nice post that he just couldn’t stop staring at Kaman’s stats, they’re just such a thing of beauty.
Now, with this honor, we can probably begin the discussion of Kaman 3.0. I keep thinking about the story, early on, when John Lucas was watching Kaman play for the first time, and how he went to Dunleavy and said he was impressed, he saw the left hand hook, the right hand hook, the jumper, the footspeed, the athleticism. And CMDSr could only say uh-huh, yep, he can do it all, let’s just see if he makes it through the preseason.
The first four games of the season were tough but Butler is in the starting lineup now and the Clips look good and have won some games, and Kaman is surging at an unknown new level.
The way that he’s going now, even Okafor seems like a favorable matchup for Kaman. Okafor has the quickness to step out and take away his jump shot, but he hasn’t seen the stepback, and Kaman has the size and length to hurt him inside.
No one, I don’t think, that Kaman would be WC player of the week in the second week, although some of us are more optimistic in general than others. Let’s just hope that Kaman can keep it going, keep playing hard and stay healthy. Great news.

Hmm how many Clippers have won this award?
I’m think Ron Harper, Danny Manning and FElton would be our likely candidates. Maybe a Derek Smith back in the day. Anyone know where to find this info?

FElton actually got Player of the Month in the 05-06 season.
Not sure where to find that info though.

I made a quick check...
Couldn’t find lists of player of the week, player of the month. Haven’t really dug yet, but it’s not easy to find.

Yea I'm sure he did
he had a terrific year in 05-06. I’m sure we’ve had a few (not many) over the years. I’m sure we haven’t had any over the past two seasons, hard to imagine winning this or any award when we win 19 games a season.

But he is NOT ON the All-Star Ballot for the 2009-10 Season!
