Around SBN: Jerry Sandusky's Wife Tries To Run A Reporter Over

Contending teams all want an extra big man, no matter how good they think their small-ball team is, because you'll eventually have to deal with the Lakers' array of 7-footers if you have any title aspirations.

That's why the Los Angeles Clippers continue to get calls with offers for veteran center Marcus Camby.

But the Clips, sources say, continue to tell those callers that Camby is off limits.

That stance unexpectedly appeared to loosen up at last February's trading deadline, when the Clips and San Antonio Spurs discussed a Camby deal, but the message we got this week from two well-placed sources is that L.A. is not willing to listen to proposals for Camby, who's in the final year of his contract at $9.2 million.

Especially with Blake Griffin not expected back until after Jan. 1.

Who can we get for Camby?

He’s pretty much the best player on court for us now with all the things he’s doing. I don’t want to give him up for someone who’s less valuable to the team than he is.

we need

a veteran. Camby is a guy whose number I feel like we can retire in the future. Especially when all the pieces come together and we become more successful

Same thing as most of you guys told me about Rubio

theres still til Feb. Dunleavy’s not COMPLETELY ignorant, why would he want to break up chemistry by announcing he wants to trade Camby. It’s best to lay low and see how the season progresses.

There was also news on espn that if there was any suitors, there would be Miami, Detroit, and Phoenix. Intresting mix.

Not that I want to get rid of Camby by any stretch of the imagination...

…but when you said Phoenix, I couldn’t help but salivate at an up-tempo offense featuring Baron Davis, Eric Gordon, Al Thornton, Blake Griffin, and… Amare Stoudemire?? Couldn’t be possible… could it?

Would Phoenix

let go of Amare without getting back a equal talent in return? One would think they would want atleast 1 or 2 of our starting players… (Thornton, Blake, or Gordon) and we might even need to throw in a first round pick.

Although it’d be awesome if we can make a run at Beasley for Camby. I know Beasley gets alot of bashing, but the guy has potential. I mean right now, Beasley looks like a bust as a 2nd pick, but 2nd pick aside, the guy can preform. If not, we can always look at smaller role player guys like Mario Chalmers and James to boost up our 3 point game.

In Phoenix, I’d love to make a trade for Leonardo Barbosa. I also wouldnt mind Grant Hill (as a prototype to Thornton when he’s cold) and Taylor Griffin. It’d be a nice story to have both Griffin brothers as Clippers.

Detroit seems like a great alternative for us. If they need a true center, we need some players who wouldn’t mind coming off the bench and producing. If anything, and I’m sure many are going to frown upon this comment, we can package Kaman and Camby over to Detroit (since Kaman has considered Detroit since it’s so close to home) for maybe Prince, Stuckey, and Wilcox. I don’t know, most of these are probably players I don’t mind having, so the salary caps probably won’t match.

You make a good point, sir...

Indeed, the Amare trade would only be possible if the Suns weren’t winning—-but Steve Nash is making sure they are. Amare is happy, Phoenix fans are happy, and Nash is happy; so I don’t see much stock in hoping for a Phoenix trade. Not a huge fan of Barbosa given that he’s immensely talented, but is style of play (he seem to quickly react rather than cleverly create) doesn’t make me have much faith in his game. I also worry about Grant Hill finally starting to look his age if he ever leaves the fountain of youth that is the Phoenix training staff.

Now a Miami trade? That’s definitely more plausible, and I feel silly for not realizing it. They would love to clear some more cap space for 2010 to put someone incredible alongside Dwyane. And you’re right, they don’t have much faith in ol’ Beasley. His rehab-issues aside, he’s got plenty of skill and might fit very well in our offensive sets, given that they favor strength in my instances. I just imagine a 5-some of Baron, EJ, Beasley, Blake, and Kaman. With all of that muscle, the only starting 5 that we wouldn’t be able to bully would be Boston.

At the end of the day, considering how Al is playing, it’s hard to want more than the incredibly productive, offensive rebounder that we have right now. Even still, I’d be pretty happy with Camby + Rasual for Beasley + Dorell Wright or something…
