D'Antoni doing well in New York
To everyone who is inclined to believe that coaches don't matter, or who thinks there's something to the notion that coaches can't win unless they have the perfect lineup, this article about what D'Antoni is doing to transform the Knicks is an eye opener.

12-19 in the East
I don’t think that’s great….and the year started on a 1-9 pace.
The Suns are just fine without him. This is the Eastern conference we are talking about. Jax, you can repost this article when the team is .500…it will carry more weight then.

I think he's doing the best he can with that roster
Don’t you? Or maybe you don’t think so.

I guess that you don't think MDSr's doing well since the team's under .500 ;-)

It took two comments to try to refute the point
And you still failed.
If W’s and L’s is the proof of a good coach, and it is most often your attempt at proof, D’Antoni is worse than Dunleavy this season. Period.
Now, this isn’t the proof of a good coach or not, but try to remember this thread the next time you try to reduce it to such a point, simple as you and the point may be.
For an alleged Clipper fan, you sure do like to make excuses for employees of every other team in the league and hate on your own. Such odd behavior.
You should probably refer yourself to your own sig and meditate on it.

You're smarter than that supac

i don't think our team is doing "well"
I blame GMMDSr for trading away ZBo for what eventually became Telfair and Smith. ZBo of course, is having a monster year. Nonetheless, D’Antoni is no hero for now…his Knicks are still horrible. Obviously, if they make the playoffs this year, it is a different story, but until then….

What I was trying to say is that
D’Antoni is taking what is a horrible team on paper and is actually doing something with them (notwithstanding last night’s NJ loss), helping to mold them into a team. They are playing pretty well give where they are, but they will probably not make the playoffs. Gallinari also seems to have been a good draft pick. J Hill not so much. We shall see what happens. I don’t think that getting rid of ZBo was a bad move.

John R - glad to see that I can get you to participate
You seem a bit sad today. Anything we can do to cheer you up?

Re: Coaches Dont Matter-Bill Simmons
I find it strange that John R uses that quote from Simmons’ book in all of his defenses of MDSR when it clear that it that same book that Simmons thinks MDSR is an awful coach and GM who blame others for his mistakes. See the Rick Barry profile for details.
That's not his point
Rather, he’s pointing out that Simmons’ continued degradation of CMDSr is a wasted effort since, after all, coaches don’t matter. And to say GMMDSr is awful is disingenuous at best, totally moronic at worst. Then again, for someone to write a 700+ page book on basketball with the bulk of it focused on the post-shot clock era, inconsistencies are to be expected (and prevalent, in this case).
