Minny's pick is ours to keep. Sorry Rubio!
I remember after Ricky Rubio was drafted, there was many people in LA hoping that we could swap the Minny pick they owe us with Rubio. Well, being an ESPN Insider, it seems like Kahn doesn't plan on trading Rubio.
"Minnesota Timberwolves director of basketball operations David Kahn says he doesn't expect to trade Ricky Rubio, the fifth pick in the 2009 NBA draft, and he believes the Spanish point guard will play for the team when he comes to the NBA."
"People move in this league, but in Ricky's case I have never tried to move him and don't have any intention of doing so. I'm eager for him to start his career for us in a Timberwolves uniform."
Well, now we know, Kahn is NOT looking to trade Rubio at all. Its fine though, we still got the last laugh in the trade; I mean Cassel and a first rounder for Lionel Chalmers and Marko Jaric? We went to the playoffs with cassel with Sammy, got ourselves a first rounder, and let go of Marko, whom I wasn't a fan of.
Also, maybe that pick will be a #1 pick?!?

Anything can still happen
If Kahn doesn’t let on that he wants/needs to get rid of Rubio, then it puts him in a better bargaining position.
I’m more interested in just watching what Minni does with Rubio, rather than actually acquiring him. If we land a good trade for him, great. If we end up with a lottery pick, great as well. But what’s Minni gonna do if they wind up with the top pick next year and have to decide on John Wall? Funny, that’s way too much of a good thing!
Yeah Kahn, if smart
wont openly admit he’s looking to trade Rubio this early with no real reason to. He’s in Spain and not creating a problem with PG minutes for Minny. But, as SilverClip said, doesn’t mean he can’t be acquired. Any non-superstar can be acquired for the right price. It was rumored he was looking to move him before next years draft, though it’s a shame, currently, the top 5 players are non PG’s (other than Wall of course).
Who knows, if we really wanted Rubio we could have him. As you guys have said, not like we’re losing anything. We either get Rubio (or some other player) or we get a free pick.

I still think the pick should be moved
I think you can get max value for that pick this year, because people will look at how brutal Minn is now and assume that pick is safe. But it only takes one lucky year for that team to go the playoffs and we end up with the 16th pick. That asset is at peak value right now, I’d look to move it.
Do you honestly believe what Kahn is saying?
Rubio’s not coming to the NBA for at least two years. He, like anyone else who isn’t named Kobe, LeBron, CP3, and D-Wade is ALWAYS available.
I still wager dollars to donuts that if Kahn were offered our Minny pick back for Rubio, straight up, he’d take it.

I'll take that wager
and say it wont, and I’m hopeful that I am correct. I don’t want Rubio in LA. I want a guard with some offensive weapons, or we could potentially be stuck with just a passing pg with little to none offensive moves.
Is this 2012 we're talking about?
What highschool class will be draft eligible, 2011?
If that’s the case, they’d be juniors in high school now…wonder if there’s any word how strong the class is yet.
I have no idea who these players are ..
but ..

That’s the 2012 projected draft. A special kudos to anyone if they can actually identify one of these kids.
