Season Ticket holders getting screwed again

Again, the Clippers are pulling these shenanigans. These tickets are available at CHEAPER rates than the ones i paid for in the same section. Didnt they get the point last year?   I just emailed my rep to see what he says... but it's the same old story.  Sorry, but its amazing how clueless they are.  I'm just afraid of the way they'll start treating us once the team wins something.  Unreal.

Supply/ Demand

With the optimism of a new season, demand is typically higher to start.

Then you have the reality of Saturday Night, a game that not many people really want to see. To help keep appearances and get people to come out, they reduce the price of tickets. I was able to grabs some row 15, lower level (111) tickets for just $30.00 on stub hub.

Season Tickets lost a big chunk of their value with Blake Griffin’s injury, and then for these single games where Eric Gordon has been out or questionable, it’s been even lower. Hopefully the 2nd half of the season things will change, but probably not up to what you’re looking for.

What you’re paying for with season tickets is to have the same seats all year and for the STH events like Another Son of Mike Smith just posted. There’s always the chance that Clipper tickets will trend upwards during the season, but with the way they’re priced, that’s a longshot.

I got that same email.

we’re talking about a buy one get one free offer. Altogether, it was around 44 dollers for sciton 116 row K.

The more fans in the stand the better...

I’m tired of sitting in an empty stadium. It’s not all about me or the price I paid, it’s about filling the stands and getting these players some support.

EJ said he wanted to hear more noise, you think that would be possible if the stands were empty?

The reality is, they need to sell tickets and fill seats, the demand isn’t there at current prices so they had to drop it.

by Newton Pham on Dec 7, 2009 5:31 PM PST reply actions

that's pretty funny....

If filling the seats were so important, to the Clippers, they’d agree to give OUR seats to us for free. I’m all for free enterprise, but not on the backs of the people that make your organization viable.

Discount the prices? Fine. Why did they have to discount below what we paid? Just bad business.

by cueball123 on Dec 7, 2009 5:38 PM PST up reply actions

Why would they give your seats for free?

You’ve already paid. That sounds like a really stupid idea actually.

Businesses are interested in getting more customers, not giving away their product to existing customers for free.

They really should be upgrading us like mad when they do this

I love paying more for less. Bleh I’ll hold off until BG comes back but this really gives STH a bad user experience to get undercut like this over and over.

Need to sell seats. I have an idea. Put out a better product. Diehards will only be

diehards for so long.

Anyhow, I feel for cueball. I felt hosed last year too. That’s why I didn’t renew this year (I did break down a week or two before the season and purchase half season tickets – old habits die hard).

Next year, if they still have Dunleavy, no way.

by eastie Rich on Dec 7, 2009 5:35 PM PST reply actions

i broke down a week before the season, too

i’m not really regretting it… nor am i upset at the organization as a whole…. but this firesale of tickets is so friggin stupid…. I’d rather they gave the tickets away to kids that cant afford to go. that’s how you build goodwill, damnit. not like this.

by cueball123 on Dec 7, 2009 5:41 PM PST up reply actions

Echoing my sentiments from last year. I didn't get much sympathy either. But I agree,

just give them away. I was thinking they could go to different high schools and things like that. Not many kids can afford the games. My first pro game was when my high school coach took the team out as a reward for something.

Hey it could be worse

we could have signed Brand for the 5 year 80million Philly signed him too….. : D

WE NEED MORE FANS IN THE STANDS

If I lived within 5 hours of the Staples Center I would be at every game, but I live in freakin Illinois and there isn’t a chance I can attend even one game. Just be happy that those of you that do live in the area get to attend the games.

Reality Is...

As a student at USC about 2 minutes from Staples, it’s nice when they do these kind of things so I have the option of decently priced seats and can decide to go last minute. That being said, I’ve been to 5 games so far this year and haven’t boughten tickets through the Clippers once. I haven’t paid more than $20 once for a ticket through Stubhub and Barrystickets and I’ve sat in premier twice and a suite twice. Why shouldn’t the Clippers try to sell more tickets by lowering prices and giving deals when people can easily go through alternative sources for cheaper if they didnt?

by besaje on Dec 7, 2009 10:37 PM PST reply actions

You haven't paid more than 20???

have you had any 100 seatings?!?!? What is your secret man?

by JackduhSun on Dec 7, 2009 10:43 PM PST up reply actions

Well...

I sat in 329 row 1 for opening night for like 10 a ticket, got an 18 person suite for the Raptors game for $18 a ticket, premier seats for the rockets and second timberwolves game for about 15 each, and another suite for the pacers game for 15 a ticket. Since I’m so close to Staples I can wait until the day before or day of to get tickets, and for most of the games the prices go way down on Stubhub and Barrystickets as it gets closer to game time. Little while back Barrystickets sent out a promo code “October”, that gave you certain percent discounts based on who the clips played. Bad teams were up to 25% off, and good teams 10%. That code worked all the way up through the end of November. I’m pretty good at finding seats, which is why my dad cancelled our season tickets in 2004. Instead, when we wanted to go to a game, he’d just tell me to get tickets.

by besaje on Dec 7, 2009 10:50 PM PST up reply actions

For example...

Stubhub has two tickets in section 109 row 11 for $29 each for tomorrow’s game now that it’s so close. Much better than even the deal the Clippers are offering.

Makes sense

I’ve tried that before, but I tend to prefer any seats within the 117 sections. Trust me, once you hit 117 row 4, your never going to want to turn back. I personally think it makes centercourt look bad. Don’t get me wrong, centercourt has a great vision, but so does those 117 seats I had. Then you can talk to the players and high five them. Yeah I paid 90 for 2 (45 each) but I thought it was worth it.

Anyway, those seats are pretty rare to find. Row 4 is actually row 2 since there isn’t a row 1 and 2 in that section. If you ever see them, maybe you should jump on them and try them out. You might be able to catch a players headband or wristband.

As for suits, how are they? I’ve also wondered how do suit seats work. Like how much do they cost, what is it like inside, etc etc. I remember someone was offering suit seats from ClipperNation last season, but I decided not to jump on it and sit closer to the game.

Btw this ad

of a hungry little African American boy is disturbing… Its staring right at me…

Funny

Our season seats used to be 117 row 5. I’ve got loads of Quentin Richardson headbands, Olden Polynice shoes, etc. in my room back at home. Always had fun sitting there. The suites are awesome. barrystickets.com usually has a b-suite and an a-suite available for each game (A is first level, B is second). B-suite usually comes with 18 seats and is located right above section 103 or so. They’re very nice inside, and a relaxing way to watch the Clips which can be difficult sometimes. The games I got suites were ones that were 25% off so it cut the price down quite a lot. The promo “October” still works for certain games – just checked – so if you go through barrystickets try it every game.

Mixed feelings

As A STH I share my tickets with a friend and so I have tickets for 1/2 the games. I buy season tickets, because I like my location Sec 112 folded chairs below the Premier section.
I also like the playoff priority I get if we make the playoffs, however infrequent that is. I don’t like paying more than I have to, but I understand the realities that the team is faced with. I would rather go to games where the stands are full even if it means others are paying less for their tickets. It does come in handy when I want to go to a game that I don’t have tickets to, or want to get extra tickets.
