But Kaman seems to be stepping up a bit. Problem w/ DJ is those freethrows, Dunleavy can’t keep him out there if he can’t make a free throw or a dunk.

I just don’t understand CMDSr’s strategy.

I don’t understand the substitution pattern more. Late 3rd, we were close or took the lead, with EJ and BD leading the way. Yet, he waited until 8minutes of fourth to start playing EJ, and then another minute before bringing BD in? What’s up with that?

I didn't get to see the game. But the section where the away team enters/exits the

court are the most sought after and long held season tickets. Those are kept so you can see the stars from the other team up close. May have been a Magic fan, but yeah, that’s some luck.

We just suck! No heart. Rasul & telfair can't score for shit!

they just eat up mintues. kaman 19 shots! wtf? any other coach would have this team over 500 for sure. EJ needs to become a ball hog and jack up shots even if he is doubled.

JM

by kingjames10 on Dec 8, 2009 10:11 PM PST reply actions

i thought about that too.

And I’m seriously don’t get EJ and BD feud. They need to get together and carry the team. The rest of them are only supporting cast, these two should carry the team no matter what. They need to work together!!

by RockyMountain on Dec 8, 2009 10:16 PM PST up reply actions

Any Unit w/out EJ

Is struggling. But the guy needs some rest. Wish he could play 48 minutes, but that’s just not the case.

Maybe Dunleavy should always go with the Telfair, Butler, Collins, Smith, DeAndre lineup that went on that crazy run against Denver, or maybe that was just a fluke.

by ghost_ride on Dec 8, 2009 10:17 PM PST up reply actions

I get that he needs some rest.

But, in this kind of game, maybe CMDSr should play him a tad more? Him and BD? The Magic is a good team, it’s really hard to get anything going against them. So all the momentum towards the end of third should’ve been kept going into the 4th. Sure he can sit them, but for that long? Surely for this kind of important game 2 or 3 minutes should be enough. By the time they both got back in the game, they were back behind by 8pts.

by RockyMountain on Dec 8, 2009 10:31 PM PST up reply actions

You think the Clippers suck?

If the Clippers suck, then what do you think of the teams that have less than 5 wins? This Clippers team has won 5 of their last 7 coming into the game tonight.

Speaking of the game tonight, the Clippers had the lead in the 3rd against the Magic, who are now 17-4. A 17-4 record and the Eastern conference champions of last season.

I do agree with you on EJ, but with him coming off an injury, he can’t take the majority of the shots. Give him a few more games, and he should be playing 40+ minutes, taking around 20 shots, and getting close to 25 a night.

by NBAFAN8 on Dec 8, 2009 10:18 PM PST up reply actions

Time for a trade

We don’t give yup any of the Starters or DJ but eveyone else is up with maybe a pick we need a boost off the bench. Maybe a pick but we need something no we can’t wait for Griffin I’d give up 2010 cap for a legit player off the bench.

by KillaClip on Dec 8, 2009 10:17 PM PST reply actions

This was my scouting report/strategy for the game tonight AKA Game plan, did the Clippers follow it?

Baron and EJ are the keys to this game. I would think in order for the Clippers to get this win BD and EJ will have to have 20+ point performances. Baron should be able to post up Jason Williams, and Eric Gordon should be able to dribble penetrate and run his defenders off screens for open jump shots. I feel the biggest miss-match is Camby vs. Lewis. Lewis can stretch the defense and put the ball on the floor. The Clippers might want to consider zoning up in a 2-3 zone. I doubt this happens, but it would work against the Magic. Force the ball outside in, rather than inside out. If the Clippers can limit their own isolation plays as well as keep the ball out of the hands off Dwight Howard, win the rebounding edge, the clippers can keep this close and maybe get a win.

by NBAFAN8 on Dec 8, 2009 10:25 PM PST reply actions

The first couple of the game

was like watching the Magic/Cavs playoffs, where Anderson had to guard Rashard Lewis and gotten eaten up by all the 3s.

by Qlippers on Dec 8, 2009 10:27 PM PST up reply actions

I still enjoyed watching the game

The 3rd was a great scoring quarter for EJ, but the Clippers settled for just taking the lead, instead of winning the game. I could sense that the Clippers made their run too early. The intensity and effort they played with in the 3rd could not be duplicated in the fourth. If you ask me, if the game is as close as it is 70-69, the starters need to stay in the game. Instead, the Clippers went to the bench and the Clippers struggled to score from the field in the 4th. At on point the Magic went on a 15-3 run. That type of run will sink any team.

THis game would have been much closer is the Magic had not hit so many 3’s and DH12 shot his normal 50% from the foul line, but those things did and didn’t happen and the Clippers got beat by a very good team.

by NBAFAN8 on Dec 8, 2009 10:32 PM PST up reply actions

just got back from the game...it was a good 3 quarters....unfortunately this isn't hockey and so we had another drought....

we don’t have a defensive problem….defense is actually pretty good….we have an offensive problem…it’s quite offensive to watch…we need a shake up in the starting line up and substitution patterns as well as….what we have is not working….no matter what/how you try to spin things….playing games less badly than bad teams to pick up wins isn’t a way to do things……

The Team played Hard, the coach however...

I don’t get the substitution pattern at all. Collins comes in when Cater is out. Novack never plays when he could be useful, like in place of Thorton with the first team, when the D must actually have to double team someone leaving him open, or at at the ends of games, like tonight, when you need a miracle and he should have been in for Camby or at least Butler.

The bench except for Craig Smith is awful
