Around SBN: Fighters React to Nick Diaz's Positive Drug Test

Possible solution for our 2/3 woes.

I've just read that Von Wafer and Olympiakos aren't feeling each other, and that his contract might be cut short.  I don't see the harm in waiving Kareem Rush and bringing back the Swiss Cookie.  Wouldn't he be at least a serviceable upgrade over Ricky Buckets and Rasual Butler?  We tried getting him over the summer, or at least there were rumblings, what do you guys think?  Certainly he can shoot better than any back-up we currently have...

I like Von Wafer

He was the Rockets leading scorer during stretches of the season last year. He can score the basketball, he is athletic, and he plays with flash. He and Bassy in the backcourt of our second unit would be nice. Think about it this way.

2nd unit

Bassy
Von Wafer
Griffin
Smith
Jordan

All I can is say is WOW!

I'm not sure if we can waive a player

while he is injured. I could be wrong, but I remember someone stating that. The only other way is to reach a buyout.. no?

The can waive him, no problem

It’s just that his contract is guaranteed because of the injury. So they can get the roster spot, but not save any money.

question

At this point, isn’t the union paying the lion share of his salary?

It's hard to get a good read on anyone's play whilst on the Rockets

The Rockets made Carl Landry, Luis Scola, Luther Head look good at times. Aaron Brooks IS good. Von Wafer I think is definitely a better offensive option over Rasual. And I can only think of one play where Rasual’s defense stuck in my mind. So it might not be a bad idea if Rush can be bought out.

Von Wafer

If Von Wafer is so good, why didn’t Houston re-sign him? And, what’s the reason for the fallout with his current team? There’s no question the second unit needs firepower, and I can see Dunleavy playing Thornton with the 2nd unit to provide that firepower once Griffin begins playing.

On the question of Butler, I wonder how much better Chris Paul made him. Paul’s the type of point guard who can penetrate and dish and get the ball into a shooter’s hands. And, Butler was typically the #4 option on the floor when he was with NO.

Wafer clashing with Adelman in the middle of the Laker series definitely doesn't bode well.

I am still in favor of benching Al when Griffin gets back. It makes little sense to play 5 guys looking for a shot, and up to 4 operating in the paint at once. No matter how bad Butler has been recently, I do think he will get better, and starting him at the 3 with Kaman and Griffin STILL makes the most sense (not to resurrect and old debate).

If Elton Brand was so good

why didn’t Clippers resign him…?

by JackduhSun on Dec 9, 2009 2:49 PM PST up reply actions

We tried

but we got Falked.

I know,

but we could have upped our price. Its not like Von Wafer didn’t get an offer from other teams. I think he just signed with the team that offered him more money, no?

I was referring to David Falk and FElton.

As far as Von, I figure he’s at least an alternative to what we have at the positions (which isn’t much).

True

I’m not sure about the Von Wafer hype. I mean he was a Laker and a Clipper before, yet I don’t recall him playing. The only time is with Houston, but as well all know, that was under coach Rick Adlemen. Somehow, i think Wafer is a product of Adleman.

Camby, Thornton, Ralph, $$$ and Minnesota’s first round pick for Danny Granger.

by sqrebck on Dec 9, 2009 2:27 PM PST reply actions

Too much

I think Camby, Sool and the 1st rounder might be enough. Pacers get cap relief and the high pick. Might have to give them our 1st round pick this year as well (which if we got Granger would hopefully be a non-lottery pick).

FA in 2010.

If we get Granger or Gay

I think we’d be out of the lottery this year as long as our core guys stay healthy.

by JackduhSun on Dec 9, 2009 4:39 PM PST up reply actions

Yup

I would trade Lawler also, I can’t trade Mike cause I know his mom…

by sqrebck on Dec 9, 2009 3:52 PM PST up reply actions

HAHAHAH

I’m sure you had good intentions by saying you know his mom (that you actually meant it), but man did that sound wrong.

by JackduhSun on Dec 9, 2009 4:39 PM PST up reply actions

Hmm, both attempts didnt work,

but all together, add the 207320, and you get the small segment of Von Wafer

I just read that on HOOPSWORLD.

Shouldn’t we be a little worried about? MEM is better than they look, have an identical record, and could be one of the teams we’re in direct competion for the playoffs with (including HOU, NOH, OKC, SAC, and SAS).
