Blake's Timetable to Return

Greetings,

I was just wondering if anyone has any idea why the Clippers missed Blake's time to return by 6 Weeks?  When they announced he was hurt before openining night I circled the Spurs game as his return and now they are saying an additional 6 Weeks?  Moreover, I looked up his injury and the normal return time is 6 Weeks so I am concerned that they are leaving something out.  I really feel that if he returns he will bring that energy the lack so often in games when Gordon has to sit.

I think they are just taking caution

The Clippers should be in no rush to bring him back. The team is playing average ball and they are still very much in the running for the last playoff spot. I feel he should take as long as he and the organization feel is right. I think every Clipper fans wants to see him on the court, but we also want to see him for the next 10-12 years too.

+1

I too am anxious to see Blake play. Luckily i was out in vegas and saw the first 2 games of summer league. Blake was pretty friggin awesome! haha Anyhow, i agree with NBAFan8 that he needs to take his time healing and shouldn’t be rushed. The knee needs to heal properly so he can have a great career and put this franchise on the map.

Normal return time...

I’m not sure where you looked up a normal return time of 6 weeks for a stress fracture. When they first announced 6 weeks, everything I saw seemed to imply that 6 weeks was an absolute minimum for this type of injury, so I never thought it was realistic myself.

Anyway, I wrote a full post about this last week.

Do you think?

They will hold him back, to give him enough time to re-condition for ROY run?

god damnit

can you fools put question marks in your title’s, I hate not knowing if it’s a question or actual news, and then opening up the post to see it’s some fool asking for something none of us know when I’m hoping for they’re going to be delivering news. Brian Skinner is for sure going to eat you PJHDClipper. Be scared.

Yay yay.

god damnit again.

I can’t believe I forgot to put a question mark at the end of the “can you fools put question marks in your titles” sentence.

Yay yay.

Yea

well unless BG leads us to the playoffs while averaging 25pts, 12 rebs and 4 ast per game. Failing that Evans or Jennings will get the MVP. Who’s this Lopez you refer to… Brook? He isn’t a rookie, he’s a 2nd year player.

ROY is a popularity contest

Did LeBron really deserve ROY when Mello took his team to the playoffs?

by sqrebck on Dec 9, 2009 4:09 PM PST up reply actions

Jennings is getting pretty popular

ever since that 50 some point game he had. Evans is preforming great as of late, but his name isn’t as big.

Popularity contest or not, Blake has a HUGE chance of not winning ROY. Not to mention he probably hasn’t ran in like 4-5 months so he’s not well conditioned.

by JackduhSun on Dec 9, 2009 4:49 PM PST up reply actions

Tyreke is probably in front right now...

The way he’s playing, he’ll be tough to track down.

Blake doesn’t deserve to win with only a half of a year anyway. Think ROY is the least of our concerns, though it would’ve been nice to finally get one.

by ghost_ride on Dec 9, 2009 4:54 PM PST up reply actions

Its not a popularity contest

or Yao would’ve beaten out Amare for it years ago. Lebron had much better all around stats than Melo but a good case can be made for either player. Point being BG would have to some record numbers to make up for the fact he’s playing half a season versus a full season of very productive ball from Evans or Jennings.

No way

There was little difference between Carmello and LeBron stats, but LeBron was the media’s darling. Carmello should of won for taking his team to the playoffs. I mean it was like 9 years since Denver made it there.

Considering that this is a media award, if the Clippers make the Playoffs and Blake averages 20/10 I feel he is a serious contender. no Playoffs no ROY.

Yao is boring, he is like the walking trees in Lord of the Rings.

Randal Graves: [describing the Lord of the Rings Trilogy] Here’s the first movie.
[walks a few steps, staring blankly]
Randal Graves: And here’s the second movie.
[walks a few steps again, pretends to trip]
Hobbit Lover: He is way off, loser.
Randal Graves: You ready for the third movie?
[walks yet again, stops, pretends to throw the ring into the volcano. Shrugs his shoulders and turns around]

Yao is extremely popular

He even beat out Shaq in the all-star voting that year.

Lebron had much better assist numbers (and defensive stats) and his team improved by 18 games as well (albeit the Nuggets improved 26 games that year). Of course the Nuggets added Clipper favorite (sarcasm) Andre Miller that same year so it wasn’t just his addition that turned it around for them.

I hate to go against ClipperChuck

but Yi got plenty of votes also. Most of it is due to the fact that their Chinese. If Wang Zhizhi was still in the league and was able to hit 10 points per game (and on the ballot) he might even be #2 or #3 picked to the all star gaem.

I do however agree that Yao is a tremedous player. I don’t find Yao’s game boring at all. I rather have Yao over Kaman any time of the day.

by JackduhSun on Dec 10, 2009 9:10 PM PST up reply actions

His argument was Yao was boring and unpopular

clearly he’s not. He’s fairly marketable too, who doesn’t remember the Mini-me commercial for Mac?

As far as I can remember

Hasheem Thabeet has a better chance at winning this years ROY than Brook…

I think hes refering to

Jennifer Lopez the sensational latina who did alot of music as well as movies? Could be wrong though.
Maybe we can sit Blake the whole season and then him and John wall can get joint rookie of the year trophies!

New member here! Now, IMO...

Hey all, just joined this blog. Oh, and I’m a first time season ticket holder of the Clippers. Yes, I am a dud. OK, on the night when the Clippers hosted the Raptors (you know, the game the Clippers were leading by 22 at one point and then lost the lead and then some “to my surprise”) I saw my rep, yes, the dude who made me buy season tickets under hypnosis, and I asked him about Blake, and he said to me that if everything keeps moving the way it is, which apparently was good, that Blake would be playing his first game of the regular season against the Lakers in January. Right then logic told me that it wasn’t going to be 6 weeks like the team first said, but my rep also made it sound like the team isn’t trying to rush Blake by any means, and that the team wants his official debut to be a significant one, against really the only true rival the Clippers have. Made a lot of sense to me, and it still does. Blake to make his season debut against the Lakers, mark it down.

I don't think so

while that would make since with the whole mid January date I don’t think they would have his first game be against the since they know that very few clipper fans are actually at that game and they would probably want to make his return a game clipper fans will actually be at. Oh and welcome to the blog :)

Hmmmm

Interesting choice of name. Can’t say that I’ve read much Donald bashing on here lately, it’s all been about Dunleavy and his predictable offensive play sets !

It is kind of pointless

seeing as no one is going to buy the team from DTS and he probably wouldn’t sell the team any ways so we are kind of stuck with him.

I'm a little short of the $400 million thats needed

not to mention that he’s probably not even interested in selling… at least without us paying a huge premium. A NBA team playing in a major market, playing in a state of the art facility with a sweetheart deal are hard to come by. I’m certain DTS is going to be the owner of the Clippers until he either croaks.

well...

I am a bit surprised no one had already taken my “name” in here. Mr.Sterling has proven to all of us over the years that winning doesn’t matter to him as long as he makes a profit. Last year he made a $10M profit, in part because of some of the moves that the team made (Baron, Camby, Gordon). This year the profit might increase because of Blake. He is happy making his cash, and, yes, we are stuck with him…but, hopefully he keeps trying to look like he cares. We’ll see if he extends Thornton and Gordon, he better. And if, just IF, he ends up bidding and winning the Lebron or Wade or Bosh sweepstakes next season, then I’ll change my name to DonaldSterlingRocks.
