Around SBN: Bracketology 2012: Duke Finally Steps Up To The No. 1 Line

[DeAndre] Jordan has shown flashes as a shot-blocker -- he has two or more blocks in 10 games so far in 2009. He's a project to be sure, but the Clippers may have found themselves a second-round steal if Jordan can build on what he has done to this point.

Our old friend takes a week off from focusing on the top of the rookie class to look at the rest of the youngsters and had some nice things to say about DJ. By the way, Gordon remained in fourth on his rankings.

don't forget to deduct the cost of being a Clipper fan

as a charitable contribution!

You know how Sterling pays

ESPN to broadcasts Clippers games.

Eventually, he would need to pay us fans.

Deandre just needs to bulk up

and then, I think, everything will go really easy for him.

strength and bulk helps...

but if you watch his games, it’s not as if he gets pushed around by all the Centers: He just gets beat over positioning under the basket and doesn’t recognize offensive sets by the other team. I’d focus on improving his bball IQ more.

I'm surprised that

he puts Mario Chalmers here. Chalmers is already pretty solid.

No mention of MT?

DJ's one of the bright spots this season.

Now they just have to hire a good centers coach.

Let's get Moses Malone

He was a Clipper his rookie year ;)

What’s Olajuwan doing right now?

My thoughts exactly...

Good point, there’s a few great centers out there that would love to be involved in the NBA. A new coach, a HOF centers coach, and I could see myself renewing tickets.

Olajuwon

I remember Okafor spent a summer (or two) practicing with him as they are both Nigerian. He could definitely learn some old school moves from Moses, some footwork from Olajuwon and heck lets get Sam Perkins to teach him out to shoot.

He's got so much work to do...

I’m thinking that he’s a good 2 (more likely 3) years from challenging for the starting position…but when he gets there, watching the Lakers vs Clippers games will take on a whole new dimension: Imagine watching two monsters in Bynum and DJ going at it four times a year during the regular season…!

Too early to say

He’s still so raw but he does have the physical talent to be a good player. He’ll need to work hard. He’s a FA in 2011 so hopefully we resign him if he does turn out to be good. I just hope if he does land a big deal he doesn’t become lazy and complacent like alot of mid-tier centers.
